On 6 July 2024, a day when temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona, reached 114F (45.5C), Michael Kenyon was walking to his local store to buy a soda when two officers of the city’s police department stopped him.
They hastily told him he was being detained, Kenyon recalls, without clearly stating why. Two more officers arrived.
Surveillance footage from across the parking lot, which was viewed by the Guardian, shows the 30-year-old on the pavement soon after, with several officers on top of him and holding him down. Once they lift Kenyon off the ground after roughly four minutes, he appears limp.

Man held down on asphalt for 4 minutes on a day where it was 114 deg.

If a LEO defender thinks a human being can 'stop resisting' and lie still while enduring 3rd degree burns. Please attempt flying fornication with a rolling toroid.
he isn't the first person in this situation.

Eye For an Eye... these situation deserve it. Not a reprimand or a fine or a desk job or even firing or jail.

Same punishment they gave to another.

He didn't resist at all, prior to being taken down?

Look, he was walking while black. What else could the cops do?

Seriously, though, he suffered 3rd degree burns and was never charged with any crime. WTF is wrong with these stupid cops?

I’ve long thought that one thing might help reduce such events. Lawsuits of course take years, and eventually the city, or the insurance for the city, will ones up paying a lot of money. But what if a portion of the money came from the collective pension fund for the police? It would reduce the pension payments of every single cop. And that might make them crack down on each other as they face a much poorer retirement.

Jack the Corporal says. “Don’t even think about it Bob, I’m not going to lose some of my pension for you.”

All the officers involved need to be terminated and they need to be stripped of their pensions and benefits. They need to face charges for attempted murder, and they need to serve their time in general population.

Phoenix police have a reputation we all know and fear out here. I have an autistic son, and this was heartbreaking.

It's difficult to let your Autistic kid go out and gain some independence when you know police will look at them and think they're on drugs. America has a real ignorance issue and I say this with relatives that retired from the force.

My neighbor is a cop and said riff raff was now working at the McDonalds referring to two black teens who just got a job there. I was bummed knowing that my two (black) nieces just started working at McDonalds and I was afraid for them.

America only feels safe for "certain" people, and those who don't know that are those "certain" people. We need to go in a different direction training up our officers. Trumps promising to give them immunity. Good GAWD! I can't imagine!!
