The top three individual actions that help the climate, including avoiding plane flights, choosing not to get a dog and using renewable electricity, were also the three that participants underestimated the most. Meanwhile, the lowest-impact actions were changing to more efficient appliances and swapping out light bulbs, recycling, and using less energy on washing clothes. Those were three of the top four overestimated actions in the report.
Right.People often miscalculate climate choices, a study says. One surprise is owning a dog
It turns out many Americans misjudge which personal behaviors contribute most to climate change.apnews.com
Don't fly, don't own a dog, help the planet.
Pretty easy! If you already don't do those things, then maybe move on to smaller things that still help, but help less.
The people who will suffer most and die from climate change aren't rich people who fly and own dogs.I’d rather they die of climate change than surrender my dogs.
Right.
So, using that lady's logic, men shouldn't marry a meat eating woman and women shouldn't marry a meat eating man. And if both are meat eaters...that's REALLY bad. Especially if they own a dog.
Womp. The people who will suffer most and die from climate change aren't rich people who fly and own dogs.
I’ll leave the global warming deniers to continue their circle jerk. Carry on…
Since dogs aren't actually the root cause, instead of getting rid of dogs I think the correct solution is to breed cows to fart less or release gas that isn't as harmful.Dogs are big meat eaters, and meat is a significant contributor to climate change. That is because many of the farm animals, which will become food, release methane, a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.
Iife without dogs is only a poor approxination of a good life.I’d rather they die of climate change than surrender my dogs.

The political left luvs this issue because it makes a nice pretext for a totalitarian government. If virtually everything you do effects the climate, then everything you do should be regulated by the state.

No, that's not accurate at all.Right.

The dog comment is ridiculous. It is because dogs eat meat. I'll tell you what, when they start raising animals to feed dogs that's one thing, but for dog food...parts are parts.People often miscalculate climate choices, a study says. One surprise is owning a dog

I'm gonna bet caring for 100 bunnies is on par with the impact of one pup, after production/shipping of food, cage linings, whatever. Not all pets are the same, however. Zhao owns a dog and three rabbits.
“I can adopt 100 bunnies that will not be close to the emissions of a dog, because my dog is a carnivore,” she said.
Im quite certain that I have never made a choice based upon how my decision would impact the climate of the planetYou are misrepresenting the article and the study.
Your thread title is a flat out lie.
What the study actually says is "people aren't very good at identifying relative impact of various choices."

I'm sure a big part of the climate change comes from bureaucracy. In Old Yeller times, dog ownership came with certain final responsibilities. Now, the price of a bullet has been replaced by doggie chemotherapy that costs tens of thousands of dollars. And as you point out, not even Kristi Noem is supposed to do the deed herself - she's supposed to call in a dog-euthanizing priest with the right cassock and incantations to square it with God. All that costs money ... and carbon dioxide.I guess Noem could help you out to do your part Mrs. Zhao. I'll keep my pup and adopt another soon, thank you.
Ive got my car running outside, not because I plan on going anywhere but just so I can offset anything you have done today to 'fight' global warming.Based on your choice of politician, your decision making process seems to be:
“What is the stupidest person or thing I could possibly support?
Okay I’ll go with that”.
