Former US vice-president Mike Pence says he hopes federal prosecutors “give careful consideration before they take any additional steps” in investigating Donald Trump’s role in inciting the rioters who staged the January 6 Capitol attack and tried to hang him.

Pence made those remarks Sunday in an interview with the host of NBC’s Meet the Press, Chuck Todd, in which he also said that the FBI “sent the wrong message” with its search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in August to retake government secrets that were stored there without authorization.

"But, when asked on Sunday if he thinks Trump committed a crime in connection with the Capitol attack, Pence replied: “I don’t know if it is criminal to listen to bad advice from lawyers” who were consulting the president on efforts to sow distrust about his loss to Biden."

Except there's plenty of testimony from the hearings, verbatim, on video, etc that proved he got way more 'advice' from lawyers not to try it.

Really only one or two, like Eastman, that had some ideas and even he said they werent really legitimate unless Clarence Thomas could delay things and then 'see what happened'.

Guess who mango MAGAt magnet chose to go with?

How many documents did Obama take home with him? I've heard in the millions but..... pssst he's a Democrat so it doesn't matter. And how many Top Secret emails did Hillary have on her illegal private server? Again she's a Democrat so the FBI looks the other way.

Got anything to back that up besides Trump's gibberish?

Obama took bunches of documents. The difference is the had permission from the Archives and the documents remain under NARA control.
Trump ignored NARA and the Presidential records act.

Fact check me, if you dare.:giggle:

Weasel Pence. He’s thinking of running for President, so he has to conform to right wing propaganda to keep the ignorant “base” happy.

You haven't posted any facts yet.

Fact: Obama took home more documents than Trump

Fact: Hillary had an illegal email server with Top Secret documents on it when she was Secretary of State and FBI Director Comey said he wouldn't charge her because there was "no criminal intent".

You do understand that just because you say 'fact' doesn't make it so.

But...did Obama take things illegally.

Fact: Hillary's email server has nothing to do with this conversation.

Total coward.

I can't get over how Republican "tough guys", one after another, roll over for MAGA Jesus.

Trump calls Cruz's wife ugly and slanders his late father, and he ends up stumping for him and trying to fraudulently get Trump re-elected.

Trump trolls "little Marco" and little Marco rolls over for him during his term.

Trump humiliates McCain, who was a well-documented ally and personal friend of Lindsay Graham, and Graham dropped McCain like he was a meth habit.

Trump basically urges a mob to kill the outgoing vice president - the guy who helped Trump claw his way into office to begin with - and Pence basically says "Meh, mistakes were made."

Just a craven group of people, up and down the party.

So this all about Trump pissing off NARA? You're kidding me right? NARA gets it panties in a wad and we're going start arresting our former Presidents now like Brazil or Venezuela?

Whataboutism gives a clue to its meaning in its name. It is not merely the changing of a subject to deflect away from an earlier subject as a political strategy; it’s essentially a reversal of accusation, arguing that an opponent is guilty of an offense just as egregious or worse than what the original party was accused of doing, however unconnected the offenses may be.

The tactic behind whataboutism has been around for a long time. Rhetoricians generally consider it to be a form of tu quoque, which means "you too" in Latin and involves charging your accuser with whatever it is you've just been accused of rather than refuting the truth of the accusation made against you. Tu quoque is considered to be a logical fallacy, because whether or not the original accuser is likewise guilty of an offense has no bearing on the truth value of the original accusation.

Whataboutism is an argumentative tactic where a person or group responds to an accusation or difficult question by deflection. Instead of addressing the point made, they counter it with “but what about X?”.

Is that what you believe? I don't. Trump's actions bring in much bigger issues into play.
Didn't Trump preach about the "rule of law" when he was President? Seems the law only applies to us mortals and not to him.

Noted: you did not disprove my statements.

Is Pence really stupid enough to believe tRump wasn't perfectly willing to watch him be lynched on the capitol steps?

Oh, I love this> "The FBI sent the wrong message” . (When trying to get back the classified files)
Son-of-a-bitch, I've seen cockroaches that had more intelligence and integrity than Mike Pence.
Drug dealers on the Cape Town Flats have more.

You do realize that had he given the documents back when asked for them multiple times, none of this would have happened. Then he obstructed justice when he defied a subpoena and lied to the government.

There is no argument about this. Obama did nothing like this whatsoever.

Anything to not offend the base, what a spineless answer from pence and this guy is thinking about a run for prez? Really?
