House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday night responded to President Trump's call for an increase in stimulus funds following Congress's passage of the COVID-19 relief package this week, saying she's ready to push for the $2,000 checks the president requested. "Republicans repeatedly refused to say what amount the President wanted for direct checks," Pelosi tweeted, placing the blame on GOP lawmakers. "At last, the President has agreed to $2,000 — Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!" Earlier Tuesday, Pelosi touted Democrats' work on getting direct stimulus payments included in the relief bill despite pushback from Republicans. "We also have in the legislation direct payments, which were not in the Republican bill, to America's working families," she said.

Puts the onus on Trump to put up or shut up. Trump has also put McConnell and the GOP in the trick-box.

GOP Senate Majority Leader McConnell and Republicans have been fighting for months to make COVID stimulus checks to Americans be as small as possible.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have been insisting that COVID stimulus checks to Americans be as large as possible.

I have serious doubts that they can work that out, as such trump needs to sign the Bill as is and if he veto's it Congress needs to override it and pass the Bill, time is up this week and even crumbs are better than nothing. I am disappointed in the pork that is in the Bill but we really have no more time to change things and get it done in time.
As someone said, $600 is what rich people think poor people consider a lot of money.
There will have to be another Bill after January being that we are actually in the worst of the pandemic right now and it will probably get worse before it gets better, the GOP may want consider that fact.

It's not up to Trump. It's up to McConnell. (You know...the way it's supposed to be. Congress negotiates and passes bills and, if the President agrees with it, he signs them.)

Trump has also put McConnell and the GOP in the trick-box.

And McConnell deserves it after acknowledging Biden as President.

That was by design. McConnell's design. You have 2 hours to read these 5,600 pages and then vote on it.

This is no way to run a government.

I agree, hence why the Bill should have been passed Months ago.

hey, at least we now know the TEA PARTY went from saying "Debt is Death" to...

Glad to know you're rooting for the Dems to control the Senate. You're a liberal now?

The bill should have been written so the money went to the unemployed, business loans, and PPE only.

Combining the Covid bill into other spending was just a cowardly & bull shit way of doing things.

The OP as usual, portrays Pelosi and Schumer as innocent bystanders to McConnell because he just can't help himself when it comes to hack partisanship.

I actually agree. I think Trump is correct on this one, which is not my norm. The bill should be more stimulus and only stimulus right now.

Did Trump screw up here?

The TEA Party has nothing to do with this. This is all on Dem and Rep Party Elites.

So you are in favor of the $2000 per person stimulus, and think McConnell was wrong and should cave to Pelosi? Or do you think McConnell should defy Trump and Pelosi and pass the bill as is?

oh wow... Pelosi actually did something right! Unbelievable... never mind that she did something right for political reasons.

This is the same person who admitted that she held up voting on this Bill because she wanted a new president.

sigh.... what a swamp creature...

I think both Pelosi and McConnell are playing their game, which has nothing to do with the American people. It's all about placating the masses while earning their big bucks from their donors and lobbyists.

Plus...Trump taught McConnell a lesson: Don't screw with the Republican base.

Trump will veto so the last option is hardly an option.

When Trump calls something a "disgrace"

by God, it is a disgrace.

I hear from reliable sources (the only ones I pay attn to) that McConnell has ties to China... (his wife is Chinese)

Okay. Whatever. I wouldn't know.

But I DO know that Biden...along with many other UniParty politicians have ties with the Chinese.

Interesting. So in the drawn out fight between Democrats and Republicans over this past year over COVID relief, Trump has now sided with the Democrats and wants MORE government spending, rather than the less that the Republicans have been fighting tooth and nail for for months...

...and you side with Trump on this...
