Pelosi pledges to win changes as House Dems reject tax-cut deal - TheHill.com
The House Democratic Caucus on Thursday rejected the tax deal negotiated between the White House and Senate Republicans.
The non-binding vote of the caucus held during a closed-door meeting puts tremendous pressure on House leaders to win changes to a proposal the White House has presented as a "take it or leave it" package.
Why do they insist on calling this a "Tax cut" deal, no one is getting a tax cut, they just if passed, won't be raised. :doh
it does not appear to me that forums membership fully appreciates what this bombshell development exactly portends
all will, however, very soon
stay up
It would be a tax cut and if this passes, the right wing could say it's Obama's tax cut rather than Bush's in 2012. Not rocket science. Why do they insist on calling this a "Tax cut" deal, no one is getting a tax cut, they just if passed, won't be raised. :doh

Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic caucus is trying to save Obama from himself.

I agree with those that have posted saying that the Bill is not a tax cut. We have been at this tax level, for what almost a decade? What the Bill does is keep taxes from going up for all Americans. I find it interesting that Repubs were labeled the party of "no". Now that the Dems are saying "no", its being spun as a difference is how to get things done. IMO, the Dems are now the party of "no".
If our elected officials want to put a knife into the average American, don't extend the cuts. We will remember at the next election.

It is funny how the Dems and media continue to call these tax "cuts".
They're the same they have been for a long, long time.
Oh I get it... if taxes expire... it's a tax hike... if they are maintained it's not a tax cut even though we are continuing a tax cut...
And once again, the Democratic leaders snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...
we are continuing rates that lasted longer than clinton's tax hikes. clinton was the aberration
Victory for who? Obama? The Republicans? **** them both. This deal sucks and SHOULD be defeated. How about a victory for the American people - if Obama insists on caving to the Republicans for tax cuts for the wealthy, he should at least get some economic stimulus in exchange.

Clinton's rates were permanent, Bush's were temporary.
You DO understand this doesn't REDUCE taxes for ANYONE... right? That it maintians them at the current level? How, exactly, is that a cut?
Kandahar is a welfare-socialist--he thinks that the rich exist to pay as much taxes as the rabble and their representatives demand
