Pelosi announces new select committee to oversee coronavirus response

Republicans will predictably say that oversight is going to distract the White House from effectively overseeing the pandemic response. The logical counterpoint to this is that trump was incompetent during impeachment, he was incompetent after impeachment, and will continue to be incompetent after this new oversight is created.

The only difference is that he’ll be incompetent while Pelosi attempts to create transparency over how our tax dollars are being used to help Americans hurt by the outbreak.

And predictably, trump will fight all subpoenas and any attempts to learn where the money is going.

The money will go undeterred to the wealthy. Committee or no committee.
 
This is probably the easiest prediction I’ve ever made, but while Republicans are busy attacking Pelosi, at no point will it occur to them that perhaps...just maybe...it’s a good thing that we know how the rescue package is being spent to help Americans.

Actually he was 100% competent during and after and has continued to show pretty good leadership on handling things.

Yep, the administration was just not busy enough - they need to focus on keeping Pelosi more informed. Perhaps, they can start by finding out why a Kennedy Center bailout was so necessary.

What is the administration busy doing, just out of curiosity? Trust me, they have the time to tell the American public how the rescue package is being dispersed. Lord knows they’re not doing anything else.

The trick here is the Republicans already agreed to an oversight committee...let's see how loud they scream foul.

Why wouldn't we know what it's about? The Democrats are going to "investigate" every allocation made under any of the CV-19 bills, subpoena all kinds of Trump appointees and basically promote a media narrative of ignorance, negligence, abuse and corruption. They will be aided in the endeavor by CNN, MSNBC primarily and the other networks to a lesser extent. The objective will be to draw a comparison between Andrew Cuomo and Donald Trump for campaign uses.

ummm wrong committee this is another committee that is different than the one in the bill.
there is already over site of the money written into the bill that will be handled by existing committee's.
there is no need to give them subpoena powers if this is just over site of the money which is already being handled.

I somehow bet you don't have a clue...it is clear that you didn't read the article...at least I am adult enough to admit that I didn't read it. The Republicans agreed to a committee...there needs to be oversight...and btw, there needs to be an investigation into whether Trump's actions led to the crisis we have now and why we don't have tests...further, we need to investigate why our emergency supplies were sent to China and are now returning to us via Russia...now we have subsequently sold and repurchased our own emergency supplies, likely at an inflated price.
