My Way News - 'Peace Mom' Convicted of Trespassing


NEW YORK (AP) - Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and three other women were convicted of trespassing Monday for trying to deliver an anti-Iraq war petition to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

A Manhattan Criminal Court judge sentenced them immediately to conditional discharge, which means they could face some form of penalty if they are arrested in the next six months, and ordered them to pay $95 in court surcharges.

Except that he was reelected in spite of her best efforts. Some republicans would have you believe that the propoganda machine led by Sheehan is why Bush's approval is so low, and why we're not winning the war in Iraq, but don't let them get away with it. The real reason is our sitting government.

Sheehan stated that she had not been asked to cover her shirt prior to her arrest; a Capitol Police spokeswoman stated that Sheehan was warned first, but that she did not respond.[60] Sheehan was charged with unlawful conduct, a misdemeanor carrying a maximum penalty of six months in jail and/or a $500 fine—D.C. Code § 10-503.16(b)(7), implemented by Capitol Grounds Regulations Article XIX §158(a), restricts "demonstration activity" near the Capitol, but permits "wearing Tee shirts, buttons, or other similar articles of apparel that convey a message."

On March 7, 2006 Sheehan was arrested in New York "after blocking the door to the U.S. Mission to the U.N. offices" during a protest with Iraqi women against the war in Iraq.[67]

Sheehan has accused the United States of planning to attack Iran in an effort to halt that nation's development of nuclear weapons. Sheehan has editorialized against any such move. In two articles on BuzzFlash, she said that the passage of the Iran Freedom and Support Act was merely a stepping stone to war, and called on Congress to reject similar measures in the future.

Can you explain how the Democrats are holding her as our leader? I am dying to see your answer, Navy Pride. I don't see Democrats praising her behavior.

And regardless of what some of you Cons think, I believe her behavior had a significant impact on the increased lack of support for this war. She raised awareness of the war and the lack of true justification for the war. I am sure that statistics would show that since her protest, there has been an increase in the number of people opposing the war. So while I think she is currently making a fool out of herself, I am grateful for the awareness that she created.

Come on aps every time she has pne of her outrageous demonstrations there are always dems there singing her praises............Your latest annouced presidential candidate Kucinich comes to mind........

I have yet to hear a prominent dem condemn her outrageous behavior....

Oh, so if a prominent Democrat doesn't condemn behavior, it means he/she supports it? Sheehan is ENTITLED to express herself the way she sees fit, as long as she doesn't violate her First Amendment right. Why should a prominent Democrat comment on her behavior (unless asked)?

Sure some Democrats support her and what she does (I'm not talking about those serving in Congress), but that doesn't mean that Democrats on the whole support her and what she stands for.

Frankly, you're being ridiculous on this topic.
