That is what Neville Chamberlain told Britain after giving into Hitler on everything Hitler wanted. Is history repeating itself with Hawley basically saying to give Russia what they want and we will have "peace in our time". If Hawley knew anything about history, he would know if you give into a bully, the bully will continue to do as they want as Hitler did. Putin wants to regain Russia what he considers its rightful place as a world power with many if not all of its prior satellites once again bowing to the power of the Kremlin. If not stopped now, this will not be the last of those old satellites he moves against. So either Hawley is agreeing to follow Trump's orders to appease Trump's buddy in Russia or Hawley is stupid or both.
 
Hawley is trash, but those voters who support him are lower.....
 


The parallels are a bit disturbing are they not? I was just thinking about this recently.

Putin isn't exactly Hitler, of course... but there's reasonable cause to wonder if the expansionism will continue beyond Ukraine.
 
I wouldn't frame it that way. Every case should be looked at, not every case is 'appeasing Hitler'. Maybe this is appeasing Putin wrongly, and maybe Putin has a legitimate argument, either is possible. It's just as easy for Putin to use the same argument to say letting Ukraine join NATO is appeasing Hitler, the bully west.

This is also the case when I hear the US sanctimoniously talk about every country having total freedom to decide its own alliances, then we can recall how we reacted to Castro - sanctions, terrorism, invasion and attempted assassination. None of this is to say Hawley is anything other than scummy and not to give him any credit for any decent motives.
