The union of Russia and China in «the political cuisine» wins in the confrontation with the "culinary" of the Washington "political bureau".
No matter what anyone says, last year’s Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok clearly demonstrated how strategic integration between Moscow and Beijing can have a serious impact on the current global system, nullifying all efforts of the White House administration to maintain the US’s position as dominant in the world "superpower".
While East-2018 military exercises were taking place in Eastern Siberia, Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met for pancakes with caviar and a glass of vodka at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Before that the Russian leader said that he was ready for "constructive cooperation with all countries that are interested in this cooperation," and expressed hope for long-term "fraternal" relations between Russia and China. Vladimir Putin said that Russia and China fought together in World War II, so they can again become allies.
300 years ago, Peter the Great founded St. Petersburg, having cut a "window to Europe." Now, in order to open the “gateway to Asia” and boost the economy of the Far East, Putin needs to “turn east”. His goal is to develop the Far Eastern region, which will allow him to pave the way to prosperous Asia. The United States limits both China and Russia, and this is an occasion to unite and become stronger.
The 4th Eastern Economic Forum, which was held in September 2018 under the motto “The Far East - Expanding the Boundaries of Opportunities”, was aimed at expanding the openness of the Far Eastern region and attracting foreign capital. The participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the forum can be regarded as an important indicator how much China supports the development of the Russian Far East, how deepened the comprehensive strategic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.
Pancakes with caviar and a traditional glass of vodka have become a kind of visual (and edible) metaphor for consolidating the constantly evolving “Russian-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership”.
For several years now, the forum in Vladivostok has been offering an unparalleled roadmap by which to track the progress of Eurasian integration.
The most exciting events in Vladivostok in 2018 were discussions on the topic “Crossroads of the Silk Road”. Moscow’s goal is to link the “One Belt, One Way” initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union. However, its ultimative geo-economic goal is even more ambitious: the creation of a “Greater Eurasian Partnership”, within which the new Silk Road will merge with the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with ASEAN. And at the heart of all this lies the strategic partnership of Russia and China.
In Vladivostok, Putin and Xi again announced their readiness to increase bilateral trade in rubles and yuan, bypassing the dollar - in June 2018, they decided to increase the number of contracts in national currencies.
Experts noted that the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok last year clearly showed that Russia is confident, decisive, friendly and continues to overcome all the problems it faces in order to remain a power responsible for the countries of neighboring regions and the international community as a whole.
Stratfor, a private American analytical company, provided estimates on the near future for the development of relations between Russia and China in connection with increased political and economic pressure on these countries from the United States. The main conclusion reached by Stratfor analysts is that in 2019 the strategic rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing will continue, just like their rivalry with the United States.
The exact list of leaders who will arrive at the Eastern Economic Forum this year has become known.
The main event of the forum - the plenary meeting, which will be held on September 5, will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Mongolian President Haltmaagiin Battulga.
It is curious that the moderator of the plenary session will be ABC News host George Stefanopoulos.
The EEF program has been formed and in the fifth year of the forum, the forum is already clearly no longer regional: a significant part of the EEF agenda discusses issues that are important not only and not so much for the Russian Far East.
Eight federal executive bodies will be represented at the EEF-2019 exhibition: the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumers Protection), the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, Rosrybolovstvo (Federal Fishery Agency), Rostourism (Federal Touristic Agency), as well as the Administration of Kemerovo Region and the representatives of Prosecutor General of Russia.

There will be minimal foreign investment in Russia's far East (or anywhere else in Russia for that matter) while Moscow in under heavy sanctions for it's illegal annexation of Ukraine's Crimea oblast and sending Russian troops into eastern Ukraine.
