I think it is 70/30 smart/dumb

but all it takes is a certain %age of those dumb ones

to ruin everything

I mean, how could Pres O have been elected? He was a virtual communist. The only reason he didn't get communism implemented is because

2 houses of Congress
the judicial branch

etc...

Overall the ones who vote are smarter than the ones who don't but that's not saying much.

not necessarily

I never used to vote except in pres elections. But I am far from stupid. I have the GPA to prove it

and other things

If you are vote against your own interests, you are still smarter than the person who can't be bothered to vote even just to protect his own interests. So yes, that means that if you have a Harvard degree and get paid six figures in your law firm and don't vote, you are less intelligent than the factory worker without a GED that can still be bothered to vote to weaken unions. And that's because at least the factory worker has a solid enough understanding that his vote has an impact on his life, tragic though that understanding may be.

We will know the answer to that question in eleven more months.

If a certain businessman is given another four years, then we will be able to congratulate ourselves on how smart American citizens are.

I always found it odd that O was responsible for killing countless innocent civilians with drone strikes and yet he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

People have an amazing lack of knowledge of the issues and solutions. That's on both sides. They have been preprogrammed to believe their ideology.

well at least we know you're a member of the 30%.

I would say the rule of thirds apply. About a third take it seriously; about a third just vote for their team; and about a third just likes to see which way the wind is blowing before deciding in which direction they will pee.

My vote was for "It's confusing" but the real answer is "it depends."

Is it smart to vote for the favorite because you know he/she will win?
No. Your vote is your voice.

Is it smart to vote for every canddate in your party if you have one?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Don't vote for anyone who supports Donald Trump.

Is it smart to vote for someone you hate because he/she is "the lesser of two evils" on the ballot?
Voting for someone you hate for objective reasons is stupid but your opinion on this is subjective.
