SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Police Department has said that more than 200 officers left their jobs since last year, citing an anti-police climate in Seattle, City Council policies and disagreements with department leadership.

Police Chief Adrian Diaz said Tuesday that the department is in a “staffing crisis” after more than 180 police officers quit last year and another 66 officers left their jobs so far this year, according to police data. “We are at record lows in the city right now. I have about 1,080 deployable officers. This is the lowest I’ve seen our department,” Diaz told KING-TV.

Approximately 20% of Seattle's police officers have quit. I suspect the reason it isn't more is others have not yet found replacement jobs. I know the Sheriff's Department here is flooded with officers seeking to leave the police department in major (Democratic Party run) urban cities. Should be no problem for Seattle. Just have Antifa and BLM do the policing.

If you are getting out of the police department because you feel there are consequences to killing Black folks, I guess the world needs more gym teachers.

Gym classes should be eliminated.

Maybe, maybe not but if cops are gonna quit that job, theyr’e gonna have to be realistic about their career options. Police don’t hire the best folks.

That is why more haven't quit. There are not a lot of career options for ex-police officers with similar pay.

Your post brings an interesting fix to the dual problems of a shrinking police force and the killing of Black folks. Simply lessen the police presence in neighborhoods that are predominately minority.

Well, then they should let go of their desire to harm Black people and they can stay in their lotto-jobs.

Why? If cops are bitches who can’t do their jobs in every neighborhood, they should quit.

They are quitting. I am proposing something that some may find to be a better working environment. It is also a proposal that many in minority communities should welcome.

No, many in the minority communities want the same service and protection many in non-minority communities enjoy.

It seems that minority communities greatest danger are the police. So removing police ADDS to their well-being. Since police bad behavior only happens in these communities, seems like a win-win.

Or the cops could just do their jobs.

Minneapolis is also feeling the crunch.

Minneapolis police staffing woes worse than anticipated

"“This presents operational challenges for me as chief,” said Arradondo, adding that the department is becoming one-dimensional, meaning officers mostly respond to 911 calls instead of doing what he calls proactive policing."

If the cops behaved like decent human beings instead of ignorant thugs they wouldn't be leaving (to avoid censure and possible prosecution?). Anti-police attitudes don't spring out of a vacuum. 'Cause and effect'; I'm sure you've heard of it.

There are consequences to pretending that every police officer is racist.

But hey, this is Seattle. They're probably just projecting.

All 4 officers at the scene of Floyd's death were charged with identical potential prison terms including for the crime of being there on the other side of the vehicle. He faces 20 years in prison for the crime of being a white police officer.

Nope, he was convicted of the crime of murder. Sorry if the law as applied upsets you, but that's what happens to murderers. May he rot in jail; he'll have a great time tucked up in his 12 x 8 solitary cell.

This is great...as long as they are doing it by choice. I think every cop in every leftist city should transfer or retire...and watch those cities burn. Give the morons what they want.

Which profession can you point to where 100% do their jobs?

Pretty sure most of the people go about their daily jobs without killing black folk. Why can't the cops do the same? Or is it only white mass murderers that get sandwiches because they are hungry?

Well since we know you support the killing of black people, that goes right along your alley of thought.
