All the people that our economy needs.

That includes nearly all of those already here. Because the vast majority of them are fully employed, which proves our economy needs their labor.

Then raise wages, support unions, and learn how to compete in the job market. The immigrants arent taking your jobs. Its the employers who hire them, so you're mad at the wrong people.

Mechanization and technology are a bigger threat to jobs than immigrants. The 1950 job market isn't coming back, ever.

Except its not changing. Not in the least. For all of the punishing of those he deems less than himself, things aren't any better for the vast majority of people. The reason its not coming off as some sort of tragedy is that things weren't as bad as he tried to portray them before he got elected.

Well, relatively affordable living comparatively. I mean, sure, I could go live in the backwoods of Arkansas for pennies on the dollar compared to where I live in Colorado, but I would give up so many benefits of being here that the savings really wouldn't be worth it. Modern infrastructure, you say? I see plenty of road work being done...the buses in my area run pretty well on time, albeit not near enough.....fire, police and community services are all well above average in my city. I'm not sure what it is you are actually complaining about here. Of course with more people there are going to be more problems....that is to be expected. Anyone who thinks you can have 2 million people in an area and its going to run like Mayberry, USA is just an idiot.

I don't think you are prejudiced....I think you are confused.

I can't tell you how many people I know personally who supposedly long for the rural lifestyle, have the means to make it a reality, and for some reason, don't pull the trigger on doing it. Its because deep down, most people actually love the benefits that living close to basically everything afford them.

Why not? If they were legal, they would be doing things like paying taxes and such. That would be a net benefit to everyone. Again, they are for the most part working jobs that Americans aren't choosing to work, as evidenced by the concern of some business owners about thier ability to function post ICE raids....they can't find people to fill the jobs of the immigrants who have been detained or haven't come in for fear of being detained. So they obviously aren't "stealing" anything from an American, since those positions are now open and still nobody wants them.

Funny how that works, ain't it?

I have read that a reason immigrants get jobs and citizens don't is because immigrants are willing to move where the jobs are and citzens aren't.

Television never COULD gatekeep that. What the hell are you talking about. Television never has had the ability to make what is not real a reality. That's kinda been the point since conservatives and Fox News started harping on fake news and overly biased media....that when you see whats on the TV and then go out in the public and actually see those things in action, its not biased or fake.

The average person doesn't need a single news program or infotainment talking head to tell them whats going on around them. They just have to live thier lives and pay attention to thier surroundings.

Thats one reason they come illegally. Their labor is needed now, they have an opportunity now, not in a decade or two. The legal immigrarion system takes years, often decades, doesnt accomodate the labor needs of the US economy or the people that would like to legally fill those labor needs.
 

I am all for it being faster, though a couple of days might be pushing it. We shouldn't be taking the worst people from other places without knowing it, and I'm not sure two days is enough time to vet that kind of information.

Its easier to verify now then ever.

In the Ellis island days you showed up unannounced, wrote your name down, took a TB test, and were on your way, legally, in a matter of hours, not weeks or decades.

Personally, I don't actually think it would matter....let me explain.

The way I see it, just using Mexico as an example....the second we make it easier for Mexicans to come here legally, Mexico is going to start making it harder for them to get out. As it is right now, a member or two of a family come here illegally, work and make money, and send that money back home to be spent there. If it were easier and quicker for the whole family to make thier way here, that money ceases to find its way into the Mexican economy, and lets face it, they can hardly afford for that to happen, so getting here would likely be made more difficult on THAT side of the border.

Copy and paste for other nations.

There is no such thing as a free market. There never has been. Capitalism doesn't want it to occur.
