I've got an ongoing situation with an Online Ticket Broker that is ticking me off, and I wondered if anyone else had ever had a similar experience....
Back on Wednesday the 7th, I ordered a pair of Boston Red Sox tickets for Sunday, April 15th through a well-known and supposedly well-respected local ticket broker. This company does a lot of advertising with the local sports teams and has been held up as a bastion of reliability and fair dealings in the marketplace. They offer a 200% refund on any ticket that turns out to be "bad".
On Friday the 9th the charge (between $150 and $200 - including handling and shipping) was placed on my credit card. I had paid for FedEx 3-day shipping. When the tickets were not in my mailbox by Saturday I got a little frustrated and looked everything up just to make sure I hadn't screwed something up. The confirmation email I received for the purchase included the line "Boston Red Sox tickets will be mailed out in the Spring of 2012".
After realizing that the company has no online help available on weekends to clarift what "Spring of 2012" means, I sent them a very polite email requesting more information. I got a response this morning telling me that tickets were starting to be sent out this week but "Tickets are just coming in now from Season Ticket Holders."
WTF?!?!?! They're selling tickets that they do not have in their possession? I purposely used that particular company because the other major broker in the area (a national one) does not issue REAL tickets but instead sends you an electronic ticket to print out (which I have less than no faith in the validity of). Of course this broker wants you to pick up your tickets in person at one of their outlets (all in the Boston area only) and charged me $15 for 3-day shipping of two(2) tickets.
Am I over-reacting here? I'm fairly certain I'll get the tickets in time, but I did make a point of respondingt this morning and telling the company that I probably wouldn't have bought the tickets if I'd known they didn't have them "in hand".
