One in one out policy kicks off

You didn't read the press here then.

Isle of Man has a large enough population to cause problems for politicians, same with "random Scottish islands" or the Channel Islands. A lot of wealthy people live on those islands and you'll have the same issue as having an Asylum hotel in Epping where a migrant then stupidly assaults a 12 year old girl and brings the locals out in protest.
You are not thinking through the ramifications of these local islands that you think would work.

Ascension offers that and the only flights in or out are government or military flights. No domestic/commercial flights to sneak people in or out. Civilians can fly via RAF Brize Norton or Johannesburg but these are regulated flights.
Politically, there isn't a resident population to cause riots and problems on the streets and if Britain really thought about this, they could offer the location to other EU nations struggling with illegal migration and share the costs of building a processing centre.
Why do you want to punish these people ?

Not sure what this is.. there has been an UK border in France since forever, but no processing or detention centre that I am aware of, or can find any information about except the stuff you linked and a Guardian article that states the same.

You're right, I've checked and the French detention centre never happened. The focus is instead going to the 1 in 1 out scheme.

So basically, ignoring the problem by shifting it to the middle of no where at a massive cost.. money the UK desperately needs to fund basic things like... healthcare. gotcha.

Healthcare? The NHS budget is £188.5 billion. As for what I have proposed, I stand by it. It's British Territory, can be safely run and has no impact on local civilian populations.
Asylum seekers whose case is proven can fly to the UK, failed asylum seekers get sent back home and those who try and cross the channel get shipped to processing on first strike. If they fail and try again - automatic rejection of their claim.

Happy to hear your alternative now that the French detention centre isn't going ahead.

Why do you want to punish these people ?

Do you have an alternative that doesn't simply land us with a Reform Government in 4 years time? I'm all ears to your proposal.

@PeteEU @panic buyer - one thing we all criticise Farage for is his party pointing out problems with no real solution offered in their simplistic appeal to populist support.
You've criticised my proposal - so let's hear your options please.

1) Allow asylum claims to be submitted from outside the UK.

2) Build a detention centre in Northern France... or on an UK island near the UK.

My point is that using an island 2000+km away, where there is no facilities to house thousands of people, is way expensive to set up, let alone run. Do it closer to the problem.

Hey how about your military areas on Cyprus? Hell I would suggest Gibraltar if it was not for the fact there is no room there.

Oh and for the love of god.. openly say that any asylum seeker from Pakistan and Bangladesh will be automatically refused.
