I don't know why kids get bullied or killed or commit suicide.
Senator calls LGBTQ+ people 'filth,' says most don't want them here
A state senator said during a public forum in Tahlequah that LGBTQ+ people are “filth,” and that he and his constituents don’t want them in “our state.”www.tahlequahdailypress.com
And he repeats that reference twice more on the clip, in case there is some misunderstanding! I have to say its been about 40 years and since the most paranoid stage of AIDS epidemic, that I have seen such brazen and bold efforts to demonize, dehumanize and marginalize members of the LGBTQ community by politicians religious leaders, and public officials. That was frightening enough because there was a public medical emergency panic behind it. This is even more so, because its pure undiluted hatred and its designed to win elections.More than just bullying, that's the language of religious fascists that have found a target. He says “We are a Republican state – supermajority – in the House and Senate. I represent a constituency that doesn’t want that filth in Oklahoma,”.

A year ago I was scared for trans kids and adults, now I am getting nervous about gay kids, and adults again. This is ugly shit.
its not going to change my opinion of him much if he does. He was pretty clear this was his way of 'representing his constituants' views. I have a fundamental disagreement on whether he should reflect these kinds of views or use this forum to lead them towards another a better path. He could if he's a coward , just shut the **** up.On the other hand, it's not a bill in OK congress, let alone a law. Sometimes politicians sound off to what they think is a receptive audience, unaware that their opinions will reach a state and national audience.
I think we should wait a few days, and give Senator Woods the opportunity to retract and apologize. He was probably drunk at the time.
There's one of the ways to get invited to speak at CPAC.Here you go.

One of our resident wingnuts recently made a post about Christian nationalist being a left wing talking point with no validity. Much like the way they use the term woke I guess. But here you have true Christian nationalism by actual state politicians. Talk about un-American.

YupThis is the kind of language I grew up with in the 80's. This is absolutely an equivalency with the type of language people who grew up in the 50's regularly heard about black people.
We are filth? It may depend on the wording statement and whether I believe there is any suggestion that he's sincere. I see what he said as effectively (as opposed to intentionally) validating some very harsh, cruel treatment towards people like me, my daughter, my friends and some co-workers. I am not feeling very patient or generous here. Not much, no. But it does make some difference if he chooses to double down, or retract.

To be honest, this is just an unvarnished opinion that we hear all the time from the right-wing here and throughout the country.
They respond with glee when Libs of Tiktoc's exposure of hospitals treating transgender get bomb threats.
You can pretty much guess that any bill in any legislative body in this country, that is labeled a 'right to human life act' or anything remotely similar is one pile a manure piece of legislation.Along with...
Oklahoma Pols Want a Database of Everyone Who Has an Abortion
An Oklahoma bill that would create a database of every person who obtained an abortion is one step closer to becoming law. The so-called Oklahoma Right To Human Life Act, authored by state Rep. Kevin West, passed out of the Public Health Committee last week and moves to a full House vote next...debatepolitics.com
