Here you go.

I don't know why kids get bullied or killed or commit suicide.

More than just bullying, that's the language of religious fascists that have found a target. He says “We are a Republican state – supermajority – in the House and Senate. I represent a constituency that doesn’t want that filth in Oklahoma,”.

This is the kind of language I grew up with in the 80's. This is absolutely an equivalency with the type of language people who grew up in the 50's regularly heard about black people.

And he repeats that reference twice more on the clip, in case there is some misunderstanding! I have to say its been about 40 years and since the most paranoid stage of AIDS epidemic, that I have seen such brazen and bold efforts to demonize, dehumanize and marginalize members of the LGBTQ community by politicians religious leaders, and public officials. That was frightening enough because there was a public medical emergency panic behind it. This is even more so, because its pure undiluted hatred and its designed to win elections.

A year ago I was scared for trans kids and adults, now I am getting nervous about gay kids, and adults again. This is ugly shit.

If the good Senator doesn't want people in his state, maybe they should all leave. And take a few other people with them, like their retired parents.

People mean money for government. Shrinking cities mean crime and falling property values. "Maybe you should just leave" is not just bigoted, it's idiotic.

One of our resident wingnuts recently made a post about Christian nationalist being a left wing talking point with no validity. Much like the way they use the term woke I guess. But here you have true Christian nationalism by actual state politicians. Talk about un-American.

On the other hand, it's not a bill in OK congress, let alone a law. Sometimes politicians sound off to what they think is a receptive audience, unaware that their opinions will reach a state and national audience.

I think we should wait a few days, and give Senator Woods the opportunity to retract and apologize. He was probably drunk at the time.

Posted this in the other thread:

Using Christianity as an EXCUSE to celebrate the death of a child is evil.

There is no other word. It's not misinformed, disinformed, wrong-headed, etc. It's choosing to hate.

Evil.

its not going to change my opinion of him much if he does. He was pretty clear this was his way of 'representing his constituants' views. I have a fundamental disagreement on whether he should reflect these kinds of views or use this forum to lead them towards another a better path. He could if he's a coward , just shut the **** up.

Relevantly to that, another one of the panelists called for Christian teaching in public schools:

“How you live your life personally, that’s between you and God. I have no judgment in that, but what goes through our public schools – I will fall back on my faith,” Hardin said. “I want to make sure that at least the children in our public schools have that faith ... what I want to make sure of is that our young children have the right to grow up with that faith, and if they choose to change it, that’s fine.”

He alone who owns the youth, gains the future Adolf Hitler

Not much, no. But it does make some difference if he chooses to double down, or retract.

To be honest, this is just an unvarnished opinion that we hear all the time from the right-wing here and throughout the country.

They respond with glee when Libs of Tiktoc's exposure of hospitals treating transgender get bomb threats.

Yup

We are filth? It may depend on the wording statement and whether I believe there is any suggestion that he's sincere. I see what he said as effectively (as opposed to intentionally) validating some very harsh, cruel treatment towards people like me, my daughter, my friends and some co-workers. I am not feeling very patient or generous here.

We'll take them. We're proud of diversity. Great pride festival.

...sorry, that's Tulsa, 2023. Oops.

Well yes. The Senator responded with anger to a critical question. A true Christian would have responded with compassion.

Now I'm not a Christian, but I do believe in repentance. I too respond in anger sometimes, and while I don't expect to be completely forgiven, I'd like to think that humbling myself with an apology and retraction would make things a little better.

Along with...

The State Senator is vying for a consideration to be Trump’s VP.

You can pretty much guess that any bill in any legislative body in this country, that is labeled a 'right to human life act' or anything remotely similar is one pile a manure piece of legislation.

Doubt he was drunk.

Likely just left a church sermon.
