Pressure of the western hegemon? Russia invaded Ukraine, thinking the small, weak neighbour would be easy to overcome. Right? Ukraine has proven not so easily overcome. Right? If this fiasco proves disastrous for Russia they have only themselves to blame. If that invasion proves to have been a blunder it will be on Putin.

He won't hold any elections, because he knows he can't win. So he intends to wield power like the unpopular dictator he is.
Elections mean leaving Ukraine's future up to the people, which is something he and his backers absolutely cannot allow.
It might mean the people having the chance to rid themselves of this war they don't want -- and he doesn't want them to do that.
He intends to keep ramming this war down the throats of the people until they're all gone.
He will still keep himself alive, of course, because he dearly loves his own life, even while sending others to their deaths.
If he cared about the lives of the people, he'd seek peace. But he doesn't, and neither do you.
That's why you need to ram this war down their throats, without allowing them any say in it thru elections.

Ukraine's Constitution does not allow elections during an invasion. Also Zelensky's approval is over 60% in Ukraine and would win any election they held. Russia needs to hold real elections with more than one candidate but Putin imprisons or kills anyone that opposes him. Putin has murdered a million Russians and shows no sign of stopping. How many Russians must die before the people rise up and rid themselves of the worst mass murderer since Stalin.

Those 2 terror attacks were done in revenge for the Oct 7 attack, which Nuland & Co felt was instigated by Iran & ultimately Russia.
