I heard people in the audio yelling "don't throw anything" repeatedly. Sounded to me like the potential was there for problems if even the crowd was concerned the situation could escalate if some idiot provoked it.
I may need to take a closer look but I'm pretty sure that was an assult rifle not an assult weapon.Shouldnt the cops have shot the rogue cop dead? Some dude with a knife threatened a cop and they shot him dead. This cop points an assault weapon at weaponless, peacefull protesters and threatens to kill him and yet no cops shot him. Maybe if the cop was black the other cops would have shot him? (facetious last comment)
I also heard people yelling "my hands are up". I also heard "I will ****ing kill you".
And points a gun at them. Isnt that like.... Terrorism or something? Threatening a political movement with death? (or someone covering it)
Eh. He lost his temper, from the looks of things. I don't think he was actually planning on shooting anyone.
Honestly though, I have a hard time getting worked up over this kind of thing.
Screaming "STAY BACK OR I WILL F*CKING SHOOT YOU!!! DO YOU F*CKING UNDERSTAND?!?!" is basically what the military explicitly trains you to do in those kinds of situations. lol
Fired, sure, but he also belongs in prison. He's not in the military. This pisses me off SO MUCH. This cop should be fired, period. You can't go around pointing your gun at non-violent people telling them you're going to kill them. A police officer just can't do that; it is so wrong and so dangerous. This guy is just not qualified for the job.
Is he in the military?

There probably isn't a day that goes by when I don't shout at the TV 'go **** yourself" to some asshole "journalist" who thinks they run the world and are entitled to be anywhere and do anything they want.
That said, the officer was out of line and should be pulled from this duty immediately and perhaps should also have a long, forced, break from any duty. It's impossible to know what stress he's been under the past couple of weeks in Ferguson - probably no less stressful than some have had trouble coping with in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The officer is clearly at a dangerous point in his mental state, but I'm not prepared to call him a terrorist.
I do not have a big problem with the go **** yourself comment he gave.

You do. That's why you put those words in your post. Attention to detail. OMG! Who the **** cares?
I saw a dozen feet of distance between the cop and the reporter, which means it wasn't point-blank.It is a weapon at point blank range that will kill a person dead.
Some of us would like to keep our assult weapons and having you put fear in peoples minds only fuels gun control. Please be accurate in your speach.I swear I will never understand the anal bull**** about this differentiation.
I do. He is a public servant that is paid by the very people he is telling to **** off. It is totally unprofessional and he should be fired for that reason alone. He should be jailed for threatening to kill people after that. He should have been shot by the other cops who have no problem shooting a guy with a knife, in fact.

I was only talking about the **** you comment, not about the death threat, that is in a whole league of his own.
And the police is not going to shoot another cop unless there is no other option than physical violence. That high standard should however be used when confronting the general public too.

"In*forensics*and popular usage,*point-blank range*has come to mean extremely close range (i.e., target within about a meter (3*ft) of the*muzzle*at moment of discharge but not close enough to be an actual*contact shot).[1]"In external ballistics, point-blank range is the distance between a firearm and a target of a given size such that the bullet in flight is expected to strike the target without adjusting the elevation of the firearm.

Oh you know the whole 'assult weapons are bullies' meme. I never thought you bought into all that. I do believe that offier's rifle was the real-deal, a machiengun, not the civilianised look-alike which is not a machiengun. What fear did I put out there Jerry?
No, but the situation is vaguely comparable.
:shrug:An angry, potentially dangerous, mob, is an angry, potentially dangerous, mob.

The aditude and the words are fine, its the pointing of the rifle which creates a problem. Someone mentioned earlier that military units trained in riot control are taught to project agression through voice and bodylanguage. That's true, but the weapon is never raised exept to fire. The man has a bad attitude, but that can be adjusted.
