cause.
Most rabble groups claim to speak for thier even if the majority is not on board.
"We have been elected by committees of our co-workers at the Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Tacoma to tell our collective story. We have accepted the honor to speak up for our brothers and sisters about our working conditions despite the risk of retaliation we face."
I speak for the lizard people, As I was elected among them to represent the outer realms of zogobar!
I wanted to support it, I tried to find reasons to support it, because I support the rest of the movement, but after thinking about it for a long time, my answer will have to be no. The premise of their idea for the Shutdown is not bad, but in practical terms, its going to turn A LOT of people against them, including the Unions, who are one of their biggest sources of support, and its turns public support against them as well, it would be better to keep going after the politicians, like Thunder said, protest or "Occupy" city hall, the state capital, and congress.
Yes..
First paragraph of the letter.
"We are the front-line workers who haul container rigs full of imported and exported goods to and from the docks and warehouses every day."
The ILWU has released a statement saying that they have not approved of the action. If you want to be honest then you will realize that there are conflicting accounts of the level of support by the longshoremen and truckers.
I think the premise is bad. I think if the motivation behind an action is a negative one it will always end up being a mess like this was.
The premise was to take away profits from rich corporations...I don't have a problem with that, as boycotts and such forms of protest have used that premise in many good movements, the way they did it though, an't so good.
clearly, the unions aren't too thrilled with OWS stepping on their toes or stealing their limelight.

…or putting their members out of work.
Anyone wanna guess why?
Union dues come out of the members's salaries.
Union dues are a flat-fee, unrelated to hourly income.
You sure don't know anything about the unions that you love and worship.
err...I get charged a flat-fee, every two weeks.
Right! And it comes out of their paycheck.
no, it comes out of MY PAYCHECK.
You pay everyone's union dues? :rofl
no, I only pay my union dues. why would I pay for everyone else's?
:lamo
But I would argue that a boycott is different. Then you are excercising your right to chose to buy, or not buy, a product. If you are blocking ports you are not imposing your will on other people. And I don't think the answer to the problem is taking profits away from rich corporations.
