Springs man's claim to have Obama records sets birthers abuzz | springs, colorado, obama - Colorado Springs Gazette, CO“According to the Social Security Administration, that number was never issued,” said Hollister, who challenged whether the president is an American citizen in a lawsuit the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Jan. 18 without requiring a response from the White House.
However, that’s the Social Security number that appears on the Selective Service documents Hollister obtained.
sheer stupidity.
Registering for the draft with a false social security number sure is sheer stupidity. Probably illegal too for most people.
Social Security Number: 042-68-4425
Date of this report: March 31, 2011
State of Issuance: Connecticut
Approx. Date of Issuance: 1976 And 1977
Issuance Status: According to the Social Security Administration,
this SSN has been issued.
Those two words seem to stop your mind and blind your eyes. By the way the first three numbers indicate place of issuance, Connecticut in this case.

according to the first free SS search site I found...
Another site verified that 042 would have been issued in CT.
Social Security Number Search. Verify SSN Verification and Social Security Number Check. Social Security Death Index SSDI & Death Records.
My guess is that this guy is nuts, that this is not really Obama's SS, etc.
not issued in connecticut, but issued as an application that was mailed from ct.
This social security number - SSN - search is for informational purposes only. It only tells you the likely state / geographic region that a valid social security number may have been issued in.
This search is not meant, and should not be used, to check the validity of a social security number. In addition, this search does not inform you as to whether or not the social security number that you have belongs to a given individual. This SSN area number search only attempts to return the state or geographic region that the area number is assigned to.
So, it's not where you mail the application from, or ness. where you live, but where the application is mailed to.Area numbers - The first three numbers originally represented the state in which a person first applied for a Social Security card. Numbers started in the northeast and moved westward. This meant that people on the east coast had the lowest numbers and those on the west coast had the highest. Since 1972, the SSA has assigned numbers and issued cards based on the ZIP code in the mailing address provided on the original application form.
not according to the site...
I could mail a SS application from Maine, with a Maine postmark on the envelope, to CT. If all my paperwork inside says I live in CT, that is where the SS number would be issued, and that's how the number would be derived... not from where I mailed the application.
The first three digits of a person's Social Security number were, prior to 1973, determined by the state where the person applied fo their social security card. Since that time, the first three digits have been assigned based on the ZIP Code of the mailing address on the Social Security number application.
i think you're right.....i meant to say mailing address!
mailing address and actual address can be different right?
correct. I was slightly off too... I corrected the post.
It's scary that a retired AF Colonel is this willfully ignorant. Children were not always required to have a SSN at birth. I was born in Illinois but I didn't get a SSN until I lived in another state. My SSN reflects that as it has that state's prefix in the SSN. I have trouble believing that you could easily acquire the POTUS's SSN.
Obama live in Connecticut? Not in his bio. He worked in Hawaii at Baskin Robbins before this number was even issued. Wouldn't he need a social security number to be employed?

will wonders never cease.........
Are you still believing that this is really Obama's SSN?
I don't know what to think about this man. Questions keep arising.
Here's a question:
Do you think if Bill Clinton had had a question come up about his citizenship, and he had shown the document Obama has shown, would the right-wingers still cling to the idea that he wasn't a citizen?
Some would yes. Others wouldn't. Why is that? Well of course your hyper partisan mind was likely ready to go "CAUSE HE'S BLACK!" however I'd likely put it more to other circumstantial evidence...such as Obama's father being from Kenya which wouldn't be similar with Clinton, or Obama having lived outside of the U.S. for a number of years as a kid unlike Clinton, or Obama's apparent embracing of the parts of his hertigate that are foriegn which wouldn't apply to Clinton.
Now if you asked "what if everything about the situation with Obama occured identically in every way with Clinton except for the fact that Clinton was white, would the right wingers still cling to the idea that he wasn't a citizen" then I likely would say "yes, many of those going on about it now would likely still be going on about it".
Seriously, if Barack Obama was Barny O'Connel, a black man from Georgia who lived his whole life there attending a southern baptist church with his mother and army vet father while growing up to proclaim that America despite its faults is the greatest country man has seen and there was questions of his citizenship I doubt you'd have nearly as many people going on about it as you do now...and he'd still be black.
Because, despite how BADLY the left wants to make this a race issue (showing that even those on the left can be idiotic in exploiting those on the rights idiocy) this has far more to do with other circumstantial evidence then it does to do with the color of his skin.
Why yes. ridiculous partisan hack questions do keep arising, and every one of them proves to be completely idiotic.
