That comment doesn't even begin to address the statement that it responded to. Just a standard, rightwing deflection.
Exactly right!
There's one unequivocal argument concerning supply side/trickle down that can't be disputed: It didn't work! :2wave:
If it did, after thirty years of it shouldn't we be awash in jobs and a stronger middle-class, with less poverty?
And conservatives don't prefer for liberals to think as themselves??
The comment was right on. The statement was that Reagan's increase in payroll taxes didn't benefit the middle class so please tell me how putting more money into SS and Medicare to shore up the programs doesn't help the middle class?
Under Bush I had no insurance, now I have insurance. Thanks Obama!
Liberals always know what others think so thinking for oneself only matters when it meets the personal beliefs of theirs. It really is a shame that so many don't understand the concept of personal choice and responsibility.
Great, how about a thank you for the subsidies the taxpayers like myself are providing. Guess you always expected others to provide you your personal responsibility issues. We need ACA to provide you insurance? Apparently cost and debt are irrelevant to you?
The difference, you ask? It's called the Great Bush Recession and his tax cuts to the rich that we'll be paying for decades if not remedied. I love how selective the conservative view of history is. You know how much of that $18T debt belongs to dems since 1976? About 1/3. The rest is the result of the Reagan/Bush combined deficits and the compounding effects of interest costs they've generated. Conservative economics and fiscal policy have strangled this country over the past 30 years.
Do guys your age still pay federal taxes?
Today is the July 4, a Celebration of our Independence where we declared our independence from British rule. People died to give us the right of choice and that includes the right to make the wrong one. Liberals want everyone to believe as they do and thus tries to legislate personal responsibility issues. When are you going to learn that doesn't work?
I wondered when you would bring up Gruber; do you have a picture of Gruber on your mantle?
Actually, I'm with you on the 'government trickle down' argument. So then by your standards Govt. trickle down doesn't work either so why do so many support massive expansion including a new entitlement program? Sorry but the reality is people like you don't understand trickle down in the private sector at all. Only with trickle down are jobs created and thus the opportunity to grow in personal wealth. Govt. created jobs don't generate a damn thing but dependence and debt.
Today is the July 4,
Today is July 4th, that's news to me.
It was the liberals of the day who wanted to fight for independence, the conservative shop keepers not so much.

Exactly but now only when the people THINK the same way and CHOOSE the same way as people like you want. With freedom of choice comes responsibility a term you don't seem to understand when it comes to others even though in your own personal life you have to accept that responsibility.

What?
Millions specifically lost their health insurance. It is irrelevant if those that lost theirs later got different plans and different doctors they did not want.
Changing plans from one year to the next is not unusual in the individual market.
It is unusual that your plan is made illegal.

You should understand there are people (human beings) who are destitute and unable to accept personal responsibility in this the richest nation on the face of the earth. It's immoral to let them stave and die. Conservatives are basically for themselves and noboby else. Now you are going to give me that line of crap where you will say conservatives donate more than liberals. Even if thats is true it not nearly enough.
The ACA had a grandfather clause. If you wanted to stay in the plan you were in when it was signed, you (legally) could.
While 'trickle down' may eventually help the working class the 'trickle up', or rather 'gushing up', has eroded any gains that trickle down effect may have.So then by your standards Govt. trickle down doesn't work either so why do so many support massive expansion including a new entitlement program? No, the plan was ruled illegal once the price changed. PPACA literally took millions of people off insurance.
Once you start substantially changing the benefits or the financial terms under which the enrollee gets to access them, it's not really the same plan anymore.
Some people switched to a different plan (which, again, isn't unusual and most of them would've done anyway).
