Of course, that uninsured demographic was the prime reason for its implementation. Only 26% of the enrollees reported being previously uninsured. By a three-to-one margin, enrollees in Obamacare were previously insured.

This lends credence to the often heard criticism by Republicans that Obama's reform program caused more people to lose insurance then it did to insure the uninsured. So it is difficult to see where Obamacare benefitted those who President Obama said it was going to benefit - the uninsured.

How many surveys have shown the exact same thing by now? Was it two or three?

Blame the Republicans. Twenty-six states, all dominated by Republicans, refused to expand Medicaid. That denied coverage to many uninsured and, because of that, over 17,000 Americans are likely to die. Let the Republicans explain that in the coming campaign.

Wait...are you saying that the purpose of Obamacare was to expand Medicaid? If so, what is all the rest of that crappy bill for?

You are going to have to come up with a reasonable explanation about that if you don't want me to put you in the make-any-excuse-that'll-fly category.

Most of the uninsured were to be covered by Medicaid expansion. The Republicans made that impossible.

This was a survey of people signing up through the exchanges. Medicaid has nothing to do with it.

That post is absolute nonsense. The idea behind Obamacare was that hard-working Americans would be stolen from to pay for the insurance of lower income Democrat voters, thereby ensuring that they would keep voting for Democrats.

Really? Did Obama, Pelosi or Reid ever say that most of the uninsured were to be covered by Medicaid expansion? I may have missed that, but I don't think I've ever heard them say such a thing. You got a link?

In any case, I'll ask again...if that was their aim, why did they need all the rest of the crap in that law?

Sure but the article suggests PPACA is a failure because of the survey's results.

It is a failure.. The enrollment results are just one reason.

We've taken people that had and were paying for their own insurance, and moved them to getting money from taxpayers... This was not the purpose of the exchanges in any way.

I thought the idea behind Obamacare was to reduce the need for Medicaid. To provide all the people who were uninsured with "much needed" health coverage. Sounds like one more failure to keep a promise to me.

Even if what you say were true, a few junk insurance whiners aren't enough to make the law a failure.

PPACA was designed to use Medicaid to cover those who didn't have enough income to meet the Exchange minimum.

PPACA was designed to use Medicaid to cover those who didn't have enough income to meet the Exchange minimum.

So they should have called it the ""Healthcare Entitlement Act" and not pretended it was intended to make healthcare affordable for all Americans.

Thanks for confirming what most people already knew. The ACA is not and never was intended for the average American.

What a load of "stinking" B.S. from a "very liberal" St. Louisian. NO matter how many letters are in the acronym (PPACA) it isn't that impressive nor is it a response to a very real LIE to the po people who thought obammycare was the answer to their health requirements. We are right back where we started after wasting billions of dollars on this worthless scam.

Then what were the subsidies for?

They've told a whole lot of whopping lies, but they've never told that one yet, for sure.

They were the smart States.

How much has been wasted to set up broken exchanges in Left wing states ?

You should be thanking those Governors

I agree. It's funny to me how people ridicule states for being fiscally responsible and not setting themselves up for financial ruin.

BTW, it wasn't only left wing states who expanded Medicaid. Arkansas and several other 'red' states expanded Medicaid.

They are for those who met the minimum for the Exchange but couldn't afford insurance.

They couldn't afford insurance, yet a bulk had insurance.

The subsidy was necessary because insurance is unaffordable. As for expanding Medicaid, you'll have to ask Congress. I don't know.

So Obama and the Democrat congress' goal was to expand Medicaid, but not expand it so much that everyone could be covered with health insurance?
