To be honest this is more of a step in the right direction compared to what we have been doing with tobacco products, in my opinion. This is far better than taxing the hell out of cigarettes, which to me means that the government cares more about making a buck than they do about getting people to quit smoking. Some of the poisons that they put in cigarettes are completely unnecessary and only serve to get people more addicted. It's nice to see that we are kind of following Canada's example.
All that's going to happen is that the government will make the tobacco people pay for their regulation and kind-hearted oversight, and the tobacco companies will pass that cost, plus 25% on to the saps that buy their products.
Expecting any intelligent discussion from you is just not going to happen, is it? *puts him on ignore and smiles knowing he's so upset about this legislation*

Every single time I see how much cigarettes cost I am so thankful that I quit. There's no way I could afford to smoke at the rate that I was back then.
We have to ask ourselves. "liberty or prohibition", with liberty comes responsibility. Who in this country does not know that smoking cigarettes will kill you?
Why is it, that a FEDERAL law is required to curb a legal product? Alchohol is far more deadly I believe, will flavored martinis ever be on the short list for this statist act?
My feeling are this "law" infringes on freedom just a bit more. It is a clear example of "incrementalism" and "statism" at work.
How much are they? I've never smoked a cigarette in my life.
Well, they used to be significantly cheaper in Montana, but now they are about the same here as they are elsewhere. Last I checked they were about $6/pack. When I smoked they were a little over $2 / pack

If tobacco is so bad, why not just ban it outright?
Why suffer thru all this BS?
The AP radio news cast said -- seriously -- that the prsident has a "nicotine addiction." As though crude terms such as "he is a smoker," are not to be attached to holy figures. After the law is signed, will Obama quit?

I'm someone who believes that the mind has a profound effect on the body, and seeing those images which tell you that you WILL get cancer if you smoke them is not healthy for the mind. A lot of people have been smoking their whole lives with no problem.
If I were a smoker, at this point I would just consider growing tobacco illegally in my backyard. Even though it's still bad for you, it would have far less additives, and a few plants would supply a large yield. I'm more against bigger government than I am against tobacco smoking.

Smoking does NOT kill everyone that smokes.

I do not promote smoking.
With the exception of a cigar once in a while in my addiquitly faned addidition that I made for my smoking buddies I am a non smoker.
I used to think that any kind of tabaco would kill anyone but later in life I saw many that smoked live to there 80's amd 90's.
One example:
1- William Sousa had one of his lungs removed when he was 19 years old and never missed smoking 1 pack of butt's every day from when he was 18 till he died at the age of 87.
2- My grandfather smoked and walked at least 2 miles every day of his life till he died at the age of 92.
3- Louie smoked cigars till he died at the age of 89.
4- Bobby B. smoked 2 pack of butts till he died at the age of 97.
5- 18 of my buddies have been smoking since they were kids and they are in their 60's with no signs of trouble from smoking.

Ok I know that they only make up a few of the smokers but those facts stand.

Whats the first question a new primary Doctor of yours asks?
Are your parents still living? If so what medical problems do they have?
If they are deceased what problems did the have and what medical condition did they die from?
Thats what you will mostly die from.
Three things that are as American as apple pie: Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Attempts have been made to ban them all, while at the same time to legalize that hippy **** skunk-weed.
~Mark
So do you dislike weed only because it's associated with hippies. Have you ever done it?

No, I don't "do" it and have never "done" it. I have been around people who "do" it... and is smells like unadulterated sh_it. In addition...I don't have much use for people who break the law and then file their demands under it.
