This tells the real story about how we got to where we are today. As much as conservatives like to harp about the national debt, Democrats are the ones cleaning up the mess while being falsely blamed for it as usual.

What a joke, what Bush did was cut taxes and increase "spending" but what Obama did was to keep the very same taxes (and spending) and also add "sitmulus". In other words Obama was powerless to change any bad "Bush" policies, but could add a whopping new entitlement, Obamacare. Obama now wants to keep 98% of the terrible Bush tax policy (and spending) and add more "stimulus". Hmm...

If you look at the data and facts on Dec 31st 2008 you might not see it that way. bush was another rich idiot who had no idea what was the right thing for the country and could have cared less.

His idea of a wilderness was a house without furniture.
 
Look at Bush's budgets from 2000-2006
Then look at Bush's budgets in 2007 and 2008

Gee what happened in 2007? Hmm? Could it be the demcrats took the house and senate?

Obama expanded on the 2008 dramatically and has created more debt then any other president in history - in half as much time

Now I am sure that the liberals hear are applauding this video but a very basic question to liberals, Obama said it was basically suicide to increase taxes with poor economic growth which at the time was 2.4%. Now it is 2% and he is proposing a 1.6 trillion dollar tax increase. Is 2% higher or lower than 2.4% and was "your" President lying then or lying now?

By the way, please explain to me how you keeping more of what you earn is an expense to the Federal Govt? No liberal seems to be able to answer that question

Only to liberals who believe keeping more of what you earn is an expense to the govt and that projected revenue is always accurate. Did you notice the chart showing the gap between revenue and spending after 2009? Of course not
 
objectively, i don't see how either party can claim the mantle of fiscal responsibility at this point. i hope to see that change, and i also hope to see it change in a well planned way that does the most good and the least harm. we have a course correction coming, and it's going to affect everyone. we really need to sit down and come up with the best path forward.
 

Bingo! And why doesn't anyone ever factor in war debt? Those cost a few bucks here and there, you know.

Bush increased spending by starting bad wars.

Obama increased spending by investing in the economy.

See the difference.... Of course you don't why do I bother.

The present cost of the Iraq war is about $1 trillion, but that will likely double or triple over time when you take into consideration the long term VA medical care, interest on that debt, etc., etc.

Reagan created 16 million jobs and doubled GDP. The govt. doesn't invest as that isn't their role. Where did you take basic civics.

Reagan invested in the American people, Obama invested in the American govt. and the American people are paying the price.

Love how young people here who weren't even around during the Reagan term are such experts on the Reagan term from a liberal point of view. Guess 1.7 trillion added to the debt in 8 years is worse than 5.6 trillion added in four. Oh, I forgot that is an investment.
 

This "young" person voted for Reagan. Chill, take a drink, watch some Fox and calm down.

Yes, the I see the difference between the Obama campaign promise of cutting the federal deficit in half, and reality of Obama doubling the federal deficit. I see Obama continually railing against the "Bush" tax cuts and then not only keeping them but cutting 1/3 of SS withholding as well. If we had a revenue problem then why not correct it, not make it worse?

Another Obama projection? So the cost of the Iraq War is 1 trillion dollars over 8 years or 125 billion a year. Without the Iraq War then the debt would be 15.2 trillion today and of course the Iraq War is over and we also know that of course none of the existing military budget was used in Iraq to cause that 1 trillion dollars in debt.

I have done the research and know the cost, unfortunately most don't nor do they care to learn. You see, War is bad but wasteful social spending that never solves a social problem is good?
