"President Obama assured Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Monday that he'd have "more flexibility" after the November election, during a conversation that appeared to focus on the touchy issue of missile defense."
Wonder what this flexibility is that he'll have after he wins a 2nd term? On a clear day the President can see forever.[/QUOTE]
No, but from Alaska he can see Russia
Pretty dumb for our President to think he is a sure winner for a second term.

:lamo In other words, when I'm re-elected, I've got nothing to lose.
Not really considering what the GOP is offering.

The "story" isn't about Obama's hubris.. Come on, seriously, no ne gets this? The STORY is about Obama making political quid pro quo deals with the security of the American people and her allies in Europe! This is Chicago politics at its finest, and ALL American's should be worried about what Obama has planned for our missle defense system if elected for a second term. Let me ask you this. If elected what do you suppose this flexibility would mean for us, you and me? Do you think this flexibility gives Russia what it wants, or what we want for our security? Ask yourself that question honestly, and apply it to ANY situation you yourself have been in where you ask for a favor, it is given, and you repay that favor later on..
Obama doesn't care about us, you or me, not even as an abstract thought. He cares about power, and getting re-elected. We're all too stupid to know what's good for us in the long term. Don't you get it?
Tim-
Joking, right/:lol:
Yep, as if Obama has done so well.
No, the correct question you should be asking yourself is, "Do I actually get it, or am I giving a knee-jerk reaction without cause or historical understanding?"
You do realize that these conversations have occurred with all Presidents, right? If you want more contemporary examples, study up on the Cold War talks. Each President has to deal with elections or other domestic concerns interfering with potential options the President has, almost all of which are not harmful to your country and may in fact actually be in favor of your country.
Well, obviously Obama was telling the Russian president that after he's re-elected, he'll scrap the missle defense system in Europe so that Russia can invade and occupy all the east-block nations and rise to power and glory as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic Part Deux... but only if Russia creates a superpac for him and stuffs it with lots of money. I mean, duh. Obvious.

You guys jump to conclusions much?

Well, well, well. So you're gonna bring up Sarah Palin. Really, really, really long reach but you've won a star for large gonnies and then it is immediately taken away and replaced with the "Oh No He Didn't" award. Tell me do you lay awake at night wondering what she's doing, thinking or saying? Hey, but if you like to hate that much, I'm not going to stop you. Carry on.
I don't even like S. Palin.
I was making a sarcastic remark on the quote "On a clear day the President can see forever."
It makes as much sense as SP quote I refered to.
Obama may get a second term. He may not. We will know after the election.
Okay. Excuse my rash come back. I see so much drivel on here about her, when the real issues get left in the dust.
Foreign relations has not been a feather in the presidents cap.
Compared to our last President?
Basically, Obama (Like every other two term president), WILL have more flexibility in his final term. No one knows what he means by his statement, but considering the relationship we seem to have with Russia, I think I will trust my President to know a bit more than I do.
