You are not going to solve the deficit in two weeks. The best way to solve the deficit is for the economy to improve; the worst thing that could happen to our deficit is for the economy to tank. Any decent deal will help the economy avoid recession and continue to drive forward. Hence, any decent deal will work towards deficit reduction.
Considering that the GOP viewed a tax increase on wage earner making $250K to be a negative for small businessowners, I'd say raising that threshold to $400/$450K to be a win for them. They also got to keep the rate on the estate tax higher than Democrats wanted and kept capital gains relatively in tact despite the 5% increase on $400/$450K wage earners.
The middle-class is already paying more in taxes as a ratio of their net income...have been for a very long time now (since the Reagan-era).
Suck it up, TurtleDude. Time you guys start putting in on this economy same as the rest of us. :2razz:

and for millions of retirees-what are they doing on dividend rates-money that is taxed TWICE

Quite your belly aching! This so-called deficit deal was all about making a down-payment on the deficit. It's far from the grand bargain that should have been made. This wasn't about revising the tax code, but hopefully that's coming in the near future. Meanwhile, suck it up, man!
Repeating the same lie over and over again doesn't suddenly make it true.

I’m having trouble with the bolded above. Say the annual GDP is $16t and a GOOD annual growth rate is 5%. This would equate into an annual GDP increase of $800b. Historic taxation rates have run around 18.5% REGARDLESS of the rates/deductions thus this ‘growth’ would equate to an annual revenue increase of $148b…our annual DEFICIT has been running north of $1t…this wouldn’t cover the latter years when the DEFICIT was running around $400b.
what BS-I pay many hundreds of dollars for each dollar of government service I use
the middle class-often get more than they pay
Would you expect anything else at this point?
when you start paying as much for each dollar of "benefits" you get than you will be in a position to make such a stupid comment. Its time for people like you to start getting billed for all the crap you want from government rather than telling others to pay your tab
I don't expect you to pay for me so why should I pay for you
You mean the poor; I know plenty of middle-class wage earners who DON'T use federal entitlement programs but could easily qualify yet choose not to because they take personal responsiblity seriously. I'm one such individual. So, again I say "suck it up!" Deal with it! Stop being a corporate welfare moocher and do your part to strengthen the national economy.
I don't use any federal entitlement program - not welfare, not Medicaid, not unemployment, I don't live in a HUD home, I pay my own cell phone bill and I have private health insurance. Try laying that guilt trip on somebody else.

Well, and spending rates increase with economic growth as well.
then why do you demand others pay more when they use even less than you do?
I didn't demand anything. You're placing your anger in the wrong place. Got a problem with the fiscal cliff deal, write or call Sen. McConnell, VP Biden or your Congressman or Senator.
extending the 10 year tax rates permanently would grow the economy far more than any so called deal even if it causes the Clown in Chief to lose face.
you are right, the best way to solve the deficit is NOT to give the government more money through tax increase but from increased revenue due to the economy growing
more idiotic mindless blather. You have no idea where I get my income from-you just assume anyone doing better than you gets some sort of handouts, which is crap
Please prove this with facts consdiering we have had the same tax rates for ten years and no job increase actually I believe Bush 2 had a net 0 gain on jobs. Plus doubling the debt. I am just trying really hard to find any facts on this. Unless it a paid for Republican study? I have a problem with the deal because taxes should be raised on everyone. Military should be cut and some cuts in welfare and some other social services. Plus end corporate welfare and end loopholes. Thats how you get the debt down everyone going to have to take a little bit of a bruise. However, I do not think either party wants to do this.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! You made the same accusation against me without knowing how I make a living. I just threw your same BS right back at you. If you can't take it, don't make wild, unsubstantiated accusations.
