In spite of all assurances Obama plans to continue the preparation to war on Iran and further China! Afghanistan was picked as a jumping-off ground just.
And this is not any surprise at all, Afghanistan is a vital strategic point bordering two main USA foes and in addition to it Afghanistan government is under US control. By this way Americans can do there whatever they want. And now Pentagon is putting into practice the construction of necessary infrastructure in Afghanistan for leading wars (roads and landing strips and other). This is what Washington finances now, not any civilian facilities. Clear as day that Americans don’t care a sh-t about Afghanistan’s agriculture recovery and building hospitals or schools! They are after war! While Afghani nation needs peace! The two must go different ways imo.

If you look at a map it might seem that easy but invading China over the Himilayas is virtually impossible. And Eastern Iran's a massive desert, I mean we could do it but it'd be a major pain in the ass and I'm sure it'd be a whole lot easier to invade from Iraq or at sea.

This OP forgets several things. 1) Afghanistan is on the wrong side of both countries for an effective invasion (as Ambracia points out), as the major population centers in China are thousands of miles away across the highest mountains in the world while Iran's major cities are hundreds of miles away across some of the world's harshest deserts. 2) Afghanistan has horrible infrastructure and no access to the sea making it a real burden to move in enough forces to invade either and keep them supplied. 3) Even after Obama's surge there will be less than half as many troops in Afghanistan as the US sent to the initial invasion of Iraq, and given that both Iran and China are far tougher enemies than the broken Iraqi forces under Sadaam we would need more not fewer troops. 4) The Taliban insurgency would make difficult logistical problems even harder. 5) for Iran, an invasion from Iraq makes immensely more sense and we are drawing down troop levels there (hell we've even handed over the Green Zone). 6) What possible gain could we get from invading China? This place provides cheap goods that hold down inflation, buys our treasury bonds helping us fund our debts, and blocks climate change measures so we don't have to spend money on that stuff while still not looking like the bad guy. Besides that they have enough nukes to wipe out our regional allies (I'm not sure how many of them could reach the US), a gigantic army and population, and a huge territory that would have to be controlled.

Giving Obama even the slightest bit of credit for having two brain cells to rub together, building up troop levels in Afghanistan makes absolutely no sense for an invasion of either China or Iran. That would probably qualify as the most idiotic strategy for a war put into action ever. You might disagree on raising troop levels in Afghanistan for other reasons but this reason makes no sense.

Another hysterical person who's convinced that the world is going to fall in 2012
