Wow - this guy is full of it. I remember thinking when Russert was questioning him on this in last debate,... he's hedging, he really doesn't want to accept public funds, even though he stated to Russert that he would announce that he would accept it. Ah, but we can't call this a lie now can we, he just misspoke.

Last year, Obama indicated he would accept public funds if his Republican opponent did as well. But as John McCain takes steps to accept the $84 million available in federal money for the general election, Obama has been hedging.

I thought McCain has stated that he would not take public funding...

How nice. Trying to stick Obama with Clinton's lying ways. :rofl

Oh get real ...you honestly think Obama has never lied? Really?
He is a racist, lying, scumbag, but the faithful are blinded by the bright light emanating from their Messiah.

Off point. You are trying to saddle Obama with a Clinton tactic. If you can't take the truth about your candidate I can't help that.

You are the one who is ignoring the truth about Obama. The title of the thread is "Obama Now Backtracking on Accepting Public Financing."

Has NOTHING to do with Clinton.

Really? Just because you (I can only presume you support azura's position because you are defending her) and azura are claiming Obama is a liar is no reason for us to lie. Azura made it about Clinton when she wrote "Ah, but we can't call this a lie now can we, he just misspoke. ". This is clearly trying to misdirect attention to Obama from Clinton who, by the way, is now famous for trying to cover up multiple lies concerning a Bosnia trip with a "misspoke". I was just going with the flow. If we want to keep it about Obama let's avoid the little snipes and hijacking of words used by other candidates.

You are the one "hijacking" this thread. Try debating the actual subject.

I do not claim anyone to be a "liar", that assumption is weak. You are just like the common Obama supporter though, you have to point the finger at other people when discussing Obama, or change the subject to Clinton, because you have nothing of substance to discuss about Obama himself.

Okay. Let's put is simply azura tried to intimate Obama was a liar by using Clinton's sad example of lying (and yes Clinton is a consummate liar as is her husband). That in itself is disingenuous. Ergo my original response to her to which she knew exactly what I was talking about given her response. Her intent was clear except maybe to you. But as you wrote yes let's get back on topic.

Concerning the original article what is the beef if Obama chooses not to use Federal funding? So what? I would like to know why you take issue with it?

I can one up the Clinton campaign. Obama didn't lie. He isn't bactracking. He had an epiphany.

What's with the cannibalistic nature of some of these dems? One side of your mouth wants to claim that he can't win in November and the other damns him for making a wise fiscal decision. McCain probably wouldn't even raise more than 84 million dollars anyway.

Thank you. The reason it is important for candidates to accept public funding is because then they cannot accept any other funding. This means special interests have less influence. It puts the power into the hands of the people and the voters, not donors who give large sums of money.

Lying I doubt he hasn't. There are those that support him whom are a bit religiously obsessed with him as are those that support all the other candidates.

But racist? Prove it.

BAM!

Alex is on a roll.

Hmm......

I wonder how a "typical white person" could respond to this question.......

I think Obama could tell you that though.....

As I'm not white I don't know. Perhaps you could tell me?

Well according to Hussein Obama a "typical white person" is racist,

I find that type of stereotyping to be racist.
I have to honestly say I was quite ignorant that he had ever made such a comment before.
I also have to say that even though I'm not white I'm even more uncomfortable now with Obama than I ever was. It's very similar to the kind of garbage that Wright has expressed.
His own grandmother - typical white person.... frack - very discerning

The problem is that too many people seem to find it acceptable for blacks to make assumptions that whites are racist.

I personally find the assumption of racism based upon race to be racist in itself.

Many blacks are just as racist as whites in regards to this type of attitude.

But no, my decision to vote for Sydney McCain has nothing to do with race.

Obviously if his grandmother is a typical white person who is racist, he would explicitly say she doesn't harbor any racial animosity at the very beginning. And so the dishonesty of Obama's critics continues. As I've said 1,000 times. I dare any man woman or child on this forum to tell me that if they saw a black guy with a hoodie at night walking down the street towards them and who they didn't know. That they wouldn't hold on to their purses and wallets just a little bit tighter. It's the biggest lie they'll ever tell. ;)

I think the problem is as Obama said in his statement following that comment.
obama said:
if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it.
It is the reality of the matter as of today. There are lots of broad generalizations that people think say or do that is mostly to do with an utter ignorance and apathy for the situation.

And if either McCain or Clinton said Obama was a typical black?

Depends on the speed at which they were walking.

If they started walking faster as they got closer and started looking around, I gives a **** if they are white or black under that hoodie, they are getting a face full of of a 40 caliber barrel.

It's kind of like calling a german-sheppard/doberman mix a typical german sheppard. Doesn't matter how many times you say it, it won't be true. But if you must, I guess Obama is a typical black guy. He's black isn't he?
