What is needed is a way to convince the youth that, if their life is a turd (polished or not), it is due to the choices that they have made, and, if they don't like it, they need to make different choices.
I agree, and yet, he certainly doesn't fall into the category of anti religion, does he?
LOL. You guys are so ignorant of inner city environments
It is liberals, leftists, progressives, etc. all interchangeable terms it seems, who often, in a very negative way, refer to the 'religious right'. The 'right', meanwhile, seldom, if ever, refer to the 'religious left'.
This would include people like Jimmy Carter as well as the Black Churches, with many of these Churches holding values similar to the 'religious right', but of course voting quite differently.
I don't know. I thought "liberal" to you was synonymous with "statist", the philosophy that big government is the solution to problems. What that has to do with attacking "the church" I have no idea. Which church are we talking ab out here, Catholic, Baptist, Protestant in general, Jewish, what? When you post "when liberals want to scream that there is a separation between church and state, only not when they want to assault the church." makes me wonder just what you do mean.

Certainly, there is a "religious left" as well, with values not so different from the religious right.
"liberals, leftists, progressives, etc. all interchangeable terms it seems" is the reason why a definition of terms is in order when discussing "liberals."
OK, back to whether current society is "anti religion."
Statism taken to its extreme would certainly be anti religion, no?
Depends on which religion with him I think.
Ok, "anti religion" may not be the right term, let's say "anti your religion" or "anti profession of religion"
Why not share your knowledge and insights?
It;s a debate board.What is the point
I've been down this road before trying to explain. It seem like many on the right is not interested in fixing the problem. They are more interested in pointing fingers and scolding. How many times on this site alone have conservatives point out the violence in Chicago and black youth are out of control. But soon as someone initiate any type of program that will show these kids a different route it is attack for being racist.
If it wasn't racist of you to point out crime statistics showing Blacks and Latinos being behind most of the violent crime in this country then why are the programs that are aimed to help defused this issue consider racist.
In the end it is all a game to you. You guys are not serious about helping these kids.
That's just a lengthy whine.
Now, that's an interesting concept.
Liberals, defined as statists, are anti my religion, or anti profession of religion? I'm not sure just how that is. If "profession of religion" means evangelism, then a lot of people are anti the people going around professing that their religion is right and yours is wrong.
Certainly, there is a "religious left" as well, with values not so different from the religious right.
"liberals, leftists, progressives, etc. all interchangeable terms it seems" is the reason why a definition of terms is in order when discussing "liberals."

"Statist" always see religion as a threat....The only belief they want is in their ability as government. Believing in a higher power is a threat to their perceived power.
The ultimate statists are the governments of the Middle East, where church and state are one and the same. If the government power is legitimized by god, then the state becomes an all powerful entity. Our founding fathers understood this idea, and so wrote an amendment to the Constitution guaranteeing religious freedom. Subsequent leaders supported this separation and expanded on it, calling for a wall between the two, and for good reason. As a result, we have religions from all over the world peacefully co existing right here. We have Christians, both the Catholic and Protestant varieties, the same as fight in Ireland. We have that most persecuted of minorities, the Jews. We have Muslims, of both Sunni and Shiite varieties, the same as are killing each other in other places. We have Hindus and Sikhs, both here seeking religious freedom among other things, we have Buddhists and Shinto, and Wiccans, you name it, all getting along peacefully. It is one of our greatest accomplishments.
