ISIS, al-Quaeda, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah........
The chasm in your analogy is prodigious.
Are you kidding me? Come on R88. Westboro is a few wackjobs pretending to be a Church. ISIL has taken over portions of nations. My word, the lack of any subatomic particle of equivalency is glaring.
As distasteful as Westboro has been, So far as I know they have not been accredited
with any beheadings.
Why is it that the supposedly most eloquent man to ever hold the office of President of the United States continuously has to have someone explain what he really meant to say?
Can't we just acknowledge that the man is often just plainly idiotic and leave it at that?

ISIS or ISIL or whatever is the subject of the thread. Pardon me for not talking about every single extremist Islamist group on Earth.
Besides, you forgot al Shabob.
So what, because ISIL is more successful makes Westboro more Christian?
No I would suggest 8 people with offensive signs only represent themselves, while tens of thousands of people taking over nations in the name of Allah represent Islam as they see it, and as they are destroying people to prove.
It's remarkable you would even attempt an equivalence.
If you claim to be Christian, but don't believe Jesus is God, are you really Christian?
If you claim to be a follower of Judism, but you don't observe the sabbath, are you really a follower of Judism?
If you claim to be Buddist, but you don't believe in karma or reincarnation, are you Buddist?
I think that's what Obama was saying. If you claim to be a follower of Islam, but you kill innocent children, are you really a follower of Islam? Obama is saying that ISIL is not because they do not actually follow important Islamic teachings.
Oh NIMBY. Dont' be such a drama queen. You don't have to do battle. Live, love and laugh. It's much, much better for you. And besides, ISIS is Islamic in origen - or did you think they got their inspiration from Jerry Falwell?
ISIS is to Islam as Westboro is to Christianity.
Yes, I mean ISIL doesn't mean "Islamic State of Syria and the Levant" or anything. Nope, nothing Islamic there!
Funny how this same argument is never taken up when the left likes to point out that many Catholics of good faith support birth control, abortion, etc. You never claim that they're not really Catholics because they don't follow Catholic teachings.
That's nonsense, of course, but it's a cute line and good for a laugh.
Again, I wasn't comparing Westboro to ISIS. Your SAT scores must have been atrocious.
Well there wasn't much "democratic" about the "German Democratic Republic" or the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
(That's East Germany and North Korea, in case you weren't clear).

Why would you say it's nonsense? How Christian is Westboro's actions?
I don't know how many times I can say that I didn't compare Westboro to ISIS.
"Corvette is to boat as dog poop is to food" is not saying that a Corvette is dog poop.
LOL
Perhaps I need someone to interpret what you wrote much like the President is getting all his minions to explain what he said. Obviously a shortcoming for both of you, this inability to be understood.
According to the Phelps clan, extremely Christian. In fact, they'd likely argue that they are the only Christians out there doing it right. That's how all of religion works, that's why there are more than 33,000 distinct sects of Christianity, all of which think only they are right about their beliefs.
But that doesn't mean they are. If I said they weren't very Christian, would you disagree?
He was brought up a muslim, went to school in madrassas, and believes that he has to be careful not to inflame billions of other Muslims by painting them all with the same brush. I get that. The problem is that most Muslims share some beliefs with the radicals. Few Muslims support Israel's right to exist as an example, even the so called moderates living in the Middle East. The moderates may not believe in head chopping but there aren't many moderates that rise up in support of defeating the radicals and the radicals will not be defeated until it is seen as uncool in common Islamic societies.
I don't think Obama is an idiot. He just doesn't have enough common sense to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel.
