The man who promised to end the Bush Tax Cuts has caved in and surrendered to the united opposition of conservatives. Hahahahahahahahaha.

Leftists who have principled convictions are now forced to swallow their tongues and support the surrender of their fearless leader. Hahahahahaha.

2 yr extention on tax cuts
13 month extention on unemployment benefits.
Finally, people will know what their paychecks/taxes will be next year.
Hopefully this will help with jobs.

Alright...but couldnt you have just as easily posted "republicans cave on opposition to unfunded extension of unemployment benefits"?

How about just an honest post...

"Dems and Reps conspire to **** US for another few decades"

You're right. Hopefully this will help. Obama is being forced to do the right thing against his will and against the will of his Leftist supporters.

Obama's leftist supporters who dramatically oppose tax cuts for the higher income taxpayers are now being force fed heaping helpings of humble pie by their beloved leader Barack Obama. I just find this so entertaining.

The leftists are having fits over this. The word schadenfreude comes to mind.

Wait. An offer of compromise is considered caving?

Obama campaigned on eliminating the Bush Tax Cuts. He isn't just compromising. He's breaking a major promise to his supporters at the same time he sends more troops to Afghanistan and keeps Gitmo open for business.

Obama did the right thing, but he had to betray his supporters to do so.

Here's an honest post: Democrats destroy country...Republicans help them.

I don't consider it caving, but the far left will I'm sure. I'm thankful Obama decided to compromise.

Barb,

You're normal, so yes Obama has done the right thing. But as you say Obama's supporters are livid by his betrayal.

A 13 month extension means it is no longer 'employment benefits' but is instead, welfare.

So the far right will consider it caving if the republicans give in on unemployment extensions?

The unemployment extension isn't a touchstone for conservatives. Extension of taxes cuts for the rich is anathema to leftists. It is like being forced to swallow hemlock.

He didn't have a choice. He was going to break a promise either way. Remember he promised not to raise taxes on anyone making less than 250,000.

BTW, we also got a 2% decrease in payroll taxes.

Yea, I just don't understand that. What's it to them if people keep more of their own money?

I don't feel like I have been poisoned ...

Do you actually have some data you are working from or are you just making wild ass assumptions and stereotypes here?

The payroll tax provision is important. I think it was part of the Bamster's Stimulus program.

Obama just needs guidance from people like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. The Bamster may get religion for the same reason Bill Clinton did. :)

No, it's a fair compromise. No one really wanted to see people go without. Now, if the job market picks up, they can get off the government dole.
To raise taxes and extend unemployment would have been a bad idea.

I happen to agree. I think it is a good compromise and no doubt you consider me far left since you seem to think everybody is far left per this comment.

You'll be sure to have lots of friends here. They go by "other" or "undisclosed".
Welcome aboard!:2wave:

I have a meter which measures leftist despair and disgruntlement. It's off the charts right now.

I won't hold my breath on that, but hopefully this is a sign that the next 2 yrs will be more than just stopping more damage.

Ok, so wild ass assumptions then. Hardly an empirical set of data ...

Obama sounded angry in his speech and did not give any thanks or recognition to the GOP. It seems Obama does not like having to work with those who oppose his positions.
