This question has been answered, in the affirmative, with overwhelming support, in other topics/threads.Is the most recent 2nd Amendment uproar here at DPF concerning Obama planning on taking our guns more about unsubstantiated fear or reality based on fact?
Well, the last Democrat administration, with a Democrat Congress, gave us the most sweeping restrictions on the 2nd Amendment we've seen. Why shouldn't a new Democrat Administration with a strengthened Democrat Congress try to do the same?
I think you can count on it.
You mean Oprah?Plus given the pension Chicago has for horrible, horrible treason and tyranny against the people
Worst case scenario, maybe some tougher anti-assault rifle mumbo jumbo will get passed. Maybe not.
Is the most recent 2nd Amendment uproar here at DPF concerning Obama planning on taking our guns more about unsubstantiated fear or reality based on fact?
As I see it this is more of the fear mongering right we have all come to love attempting to smear the upcoming Obama administration via paranoid theorizing before he has even had the chance to be sworn in.

It was noted -- by the Daily Koz, no less -- that The Obama's website, his plan for change, was revised to remove the specification of a permanent 'assault weapon' ban being part of said plan. There are many Democrats who would ban the ownership of all guns if they could. Some Republicans, too, I suppose. It's not like it's far-fetched to expect something sweeping.
Jan 2007, yes?It was already introduced by Rep. McCarthy, immediately after the Democrats retook Congress.
Feb, 2007, and yes, all that will happen. Just showing why there should be no doubt of it.
Clearly, gun owners are just paranoid nutjobs.
Gun control will most likely tighten up under Obama. Still, the fear mongering from the right borders on comical
No moreso than most of the fearmongering from the Left over the past 8 years. Or was Bush (or Cheney) really going to come and get you in the middle of night?
So you have no defense for fear mongering, but think it's okay because other people engage in it?
Said nothing of the kind. Simply providing balance; it's hardly an exclusive "Right-wing" phenomenon. You chose to make the distinction, however.
Sounds like you're saying exactly that again. "Providing balance" = "two wrongs make a right"
No, I didn't say anyone was "right." But I guess I can't stop you from reading it that way if you're determined to do so no matter what I say.
I mean, I'm saying both sides are wrong when they do so.
So you're saying that you were wrong to engage in fear mongering? If so I redact my previous post
Show me the "fearmongering," and I will admit to being wrong, sure.
