There was big news last night, and at least three threads were created about it. I posted in a couple of them, starting the first on the topic. I went back to look for one of the others this morning, only to find it wasn't there, and my thread on the topic was much, much longer than it had been.

Suggestion: when duplicate threads are merged, a tag should be placed in the thread title, along the lines of the warning notifications. [Merged] would be my suggestion.

Just so everyone knows what's going on.

Taking a few minutes to check if a thread already exists should take care of them having to merge.

Actually a good idea. I'm for that.

As long as the title is titled right, that works. "He Lied!" wouldn't match up (just an example)

Addendum: perhaps include the number of threads that were merged as well. Last night's example: [Merged: 3] or [3 Merged]

The number can be updated, I presume, as new merges are completed.

That’s too much work. People are generally smart enough to figure it out.

"Too much work?"
It’s more work than just merging multiple threads, which is already a job and a half when news breaks. We don’t need to pile on the busy work by requiring personal notifications so you aren’t confused.

A site where I used to post did this fairly easily. It really cleaned up the clutter. Posters didn't have to jump from one thread to another to engage in the same conversation. I don't know why they don't do it here.

The presumably trivial burden of things that are dismissed as "too much work" continues to astound.

That's too hard for some people apparently.

There were two new threads started this morning including this waste of space...

We interrupt Hunter's crack session to bring you the following.
.Obviously there was far more to nail the Biden's asses to the wall.
. Does this cover his coke baggy in the White House? They have desperately tried to get the evidence destroyed. It does. It said "any crimes".
. Will he pardon the entire crime family next?

I hate to bring it up because of how ruffled some feathers like to get over cross-platform comparisons, but I'm pretty sure this was (or could be made) automatic on other software like vBulletin. I know I recall seeing bolded, differently-colored forum-applied notices similar to the one I suggested on other forums. Perhaps they use other forum software?

Like comprehending that sometimes threads get merged.

I don't think anyone has indicated they struggle with either the concept or the rationale.

All that's being suggested here is a one- or two-word notice when it happens. But, evidently, this is a task at which Hercules himself would give the side-eye.

I just can't comprehend how much you require your hand held. It's rather odd. The warnings in a thread title serve a purpose. Warn people of the existence of a warning so they can behave on entering. Putting merged in thread titles serves no purpose that I can conceive of. It's a forum, duplicate threads get merged, and it isn't necessary to highlight every time it happens.

You can see your own posts in those threads, even when they get merged into other threads.

How about you chill the **** out? It's a simple suggestion that some kind of notification be made when threads are merged so people know what happened to a thread they may have been watching.

The warnings in a thread title serve a purpose.
As would thread merge notifications.

Warn people of the existence of a warning so they can behave on entering.
Notify people multiple threads were merged so they know where one went after it vanishes.

I think all threads solely with the purpose of bashing Trump should be merged...or given their own forum.

I can only see my posts in the merged thread if I posted in one of the pre-merger threads.

Not sure what you are saying. When you go to your account and select "Your content" it should take you to your posts wherever they currently are.

If you don't like threads that "bash Trump" this will be a long four years for you. Maybe log out and try again in 2029.
