“The Didache is in two or three parts. The first part draws heavily from the gospels and follows the “two-ways” ethical tradition of Proverbs and the Psalms. It quotes and elaborates subtly upon the Sermon on the Mount, which elaborations (e.g., substituting “fasting” for blessing one’s enemies) seem to locate it more in the 2nd century than the first. The second part of the work is a fairly detailed account of the early Christian practice of baptism (by effusion) and the Lord’s Supper. The Didache knows nothing of transubstantiation or a memorial eucharistic sacrifice. The third part is a brief apocalyptic section. Naturally, there is much discussion among scholars about the source criticism and how to relate the three aspects of the document to each other.”
“Yesterday, in class, as we worked through chapter 2 I was struck by this portion of 2:2: “You shall not murder a child in destruction nor shall you kill one just born” (οὐ φονεύσεις τέκνον ἐν φθορᾷ οὐδὲ γεννηθέντα ἀποκτενεῖς). Michael Holmes, in his excellent edition of the Apostolic Fathers (3rd edition) translates these clauses, “you shall not abort a child or commit infanticide.” This seems perfect.”

Who cares? If god has an issue with abortion, god can come and do something about it himself! It's certinly none of your or anyone else's business or concern what another chooses regarding their pregnancy/body. It's also rather arrogant to claim to know what the grandest possible entity likes or dislikes. Many in today’s churches whistle past the graveyard when it comes to abortion.

This forum is for discussion of abortion. Not the law or it would be more appropriate in Law & Order forum. Is there a reason that a religious belief that millions dont share should drive legislation in the US? There's a 1st Amendment right protecting people from that. Correct?
If you dont wish to discuss the law, perhaps this would be better in the Religious sub-forum? Do you want to discuss the law?
I'll be happy to address that and prove that incorrect as well, later. Not really necessary if you cannot answer my questions above.
What's wrong with abortion? If your religion says it's wrong, that only applies to you or others within that religion and not anyone else. A rational argument can be made abortion is a good thing. This forum is for discussion of abortion. Not the law or it would be more appropriate in Law & Order forum.
My topic stands as to why abortion is wrong.
On 9/10 more died in womens wombs than the 9/11 attack in NYC. And our country is more concerned about terrorism than abortion. What's wrong with abortion? Then don’t have one if it goes against your beliefsThis forum is for discussion of abortion. Not the law or it would be more appropriate in Law & Order forum.

This country doesn’t care about living and breathing children - especially under the current Trump administration that’s cutting access to free lunch programs, food stamps, education, healthcare benefits, environmental protections, etc.On 9/10 more died in womens wombs than the 9/11 attack in NYC. Death compares to access of free lunches? This country doesn’t care about living and breathing children - especially under the current Trump administration that’s cutting access to free lunch programs, food stamps, education, healthcare benefits, environmental protections, etc.
That’s the conclusion you’ve jumped to. Not what I stated.Death compares to free access to lunches?
Um, OK I guess.
More what "died in women's bodies"? Certainly not people, like those murdered by Islamic terrorists on 9/11.On 9/10 more died in womens wombs than the 9/11 attack in NYC. And our country is more concerned about terrorism than abortion.
Its what you did. That’s the conclusion you’ve jumped to. Not what I stated.
life. You can justify abortion anyway you want. But stopping a heartbeat is murder.More what "died in women's bodies"? Certainly not people, like those murdered by Islamic terrorists on 9/11.
Yeah, well kids outside the womb do need to eat.Its what you did.
You minimized death in the womb by propping it up against the lack of free school lunches.
Terrorism actively and Demonstrably harms individuals and society, 9/11 being a prime example. Abortion has no negative effect on society or individuals beyond the one having an abortion. There is no comparison between the two and it's disingenuous to even attempt a comparison. On 9/10 more died in womens wombs than the 9/11 attack in NYC. And our country is more concerned about terrorism than abortion.
Why would anyone need to justify their abortion decision to you or anyone else? And abortion is not murder, no matter how much you believe otherwise.life. You can justify abortion anyway you want. But stopping a heartbeat is murder.
Spare us the emotionalism. Abortion is far safer, easier, cheaper, and practical than gestation, birth, and rearing. That's just a simple fact. Its what you did.
You minimized death in the womb by propping it up against the lack of free school lunches.
In your opinion. In Sweden you would be one of a very small minority.life. You can justify abortion anyway you want. But stopping a heartbeat is murder.
Isn’t Sweden one of the countries where individuals can safely allow their babies to nap outside in their prams? Or am I mistaken? In your opinion. In Sweden you would be one of a very small minority.
Babies are safe where I live and in most places in Sweden but not maybe everywhere. It's their mothers or teenage sisters who need to be wary in high immigrant areas.Isn’t Sweden one of the countries where individuals can safely allow their babies to nap outside in their prams? Or am I mistaken?
I am completely in awe of how other countries support families. And mothers. And how safe their societies are.
Sadly, that’s not the culture here in the US.
You mentioned the Sermon on the Mount. This forum is for discussion of abortion. Not the law or it would be more appropriate in Law & Order forum.

Yes. I sincerely recommend Matthew 5 (KJV). I'm particularly moved by the 15 or so verses at the end of the chapter. I'm an atheist, but I can tell good preaching from bad preaching. You mentioned the Sermon on the Mount.
MAGA christians should read and heed it.
