No need to argue if any black woman is qualified for the supreme court. Is it just plain old time one was finally added to the court?

Our history of the supreme court is basically white men. With the country being so much more diverse than white men, isn't it time the supreme court became a bit more representative of america?

The fact is that if you’re not at the table then you’re on the menu. It pays to have your group represented in positions of power. It’s especially necessary if the group you belong to is on the business end of institutional racism.

As long as all qualified white men go last in all aspects of life the left loonies will be happy.
Oh, and trumpism will continue to grow.

It’s good to have a wider variety of perspectives on the SCOTUS.

If anything, as more people retire, I hope diversity increases.
Maybe we should simply ban all white men not only from the court but from all elected offices too.

While you're at it, get a master Ford mechanic to work on a Tesla today without training.

Same thing.

Put VP Kamala Harris on SCOTUS. She'll **** everything up within a month or two like she has as VP in ~13 months.

Here's my take at this point.

I'm a big fan of 'personal attributes shouldn't matter'. Why shouldn't a white person be a champion of black rights, a black man of women's rights, a straight man of gay equal rights? Clarence Thomas does not represent black people's interests because of his own race. But, I quickly recognize how flawed that idea is, how reality doesn't match the idea.

And then, there's the simple issue of 'equity' - if there's a court of all white men representing many views, is there really nothing going on with why it's not a court filled with better representation and diversity? No.

And then finally, the rub is that 'to get from here to there' requires some 'blunt force' - things like Biden committing to appoint a black woman, that might violate various ideals 'how it would be nice if it worked', but actually get us to a better place.

So I arrive somewhat reluctantly at seeing the move as a very good one, and objections as ranging from somewhat misguided - like if I just had my initial issue - to selfish and bigoted. People can come up with objections all day long, but you likely won't hear them solving the issue how to get to equity. So even if Biden's move is a cynical political one - right thing, partly wrong reason.

We've had more than enough women on the court. And blacks have had a seat since Thurgood Marshall. Clearly what takes priority for the court would be someone who is:

a: Native American, any gender
b: Male Latinx, preferably from Mexico or Cuba
c: Male or female of Japanese ancestry.
c.1 Male or female of Chinese ancestry.
d: Male or female of Vietnamese, SE Asian Origin (not Chinese).
d.1: Filipino any gender
d2: American Samoan, any gender
e: Inuit of any gender
f: Indian (Asian) of any gender
e: Muslim, Shia
f: Muslim, Sunni
g: Transgender, with or without same gender attraction, without or without "equipment".
h: Non-Binary or Queer
I: Out of the Closet Gay or Lesbian (Kagen and Sotomayor don't count...still in closet).
j: Eastern Orthodox
k: Buddhist, preferably immigrant from Nepal
l: Disabled, preferably quadriplegic
L1: Autistic or Down's Syndrome afflicted.
m: Persian
n: Arab
o: Practicing Pagen
p: Christian sect: Amish, Shaker, "Holy Roller". or any Tent Revivalist
q: A Priest or Minister
q1: Nun
q2: Anyone whose parents were below the poverty line.
q3: Anyone who is below the poverty line.
q4: Anyone who didn't finish high school.
r: A chiropractor
s: Insurance salesman or woman
t: Used Car Dealer
u: Crabber, Shrimper or Lobster Fisherman
v: Necromancer
w: Klingon
x: Cannibal or Headhunter
y: Hari Krishna
z: Mormon

Because there are only nine seats, a combination would be best. Say, an autistic transgendered nun who identifies as a lesbian who is also an immigrant from Armenia, and a former male prostitute.

Or...we can appoint any American well qualified, rational, and who respects the Constitution.

Yes-----and I have a strong feeling that this next pick will be more outstanding/qualified than the last 3 picks........

I laughed out loud at that, at how correct you are.

Yeah, white men being discriminated against is a real problem in America.

Only the ones that think like you. ;)

LOL - a little right wing hate as an appetizer before din din - Yummy!

And the resentment has birthed trumpism.
The element of Trumpism you are referring to is, in truth, resentment of others that have long been wrongly held back, ascending to positions they have earned.

Nah, its about the left's success in refusing employment to qualified white men.

I think it's long overdue. We already have too many dumbass corrupt men on the court. Most likely, she'll give the court some class.
I don't think "it's about time". I think the best people who are qualified should be on the court, regardless of race or gender. If we would just approach things this way we'd be much better off.

You are making their race and sex part of the qualification which is racist and sexist.

I never liked fighting racism with racism. This is somewhat more odious than most.

If the left’s success was measured by the number of white men unfairly refused employment, they’d rate an F-.
