I guess this isn't all that surprising given that US involvement in Chile's coup has already been substantiated. But I guess this adds a whole other level of conspiring.
As Michelle Bachelet joked: "Why has there never been a coup in the United States?...... Because there is no US embassy in the United States."
A history of US meddling in Latin America democracies is another important reason that the US opposes all coups in the Americas during the current era of democratic governance throughout Central and South America.
