That you can get a submarine to go that fast underwater is indeed impressive - technology-wise.47 Knots... not too shabby
They likely used tech similar to super cavitating torpedos, where an air bubble is used to reduce drag. Thhose torpedos have been in use since the soviet union still existed, but those torpedos could hit 200 knots in speed, I imagine they just played around with the tech on a larger scale to try and get a sub to perform similar in ratio to size and weight.That you can get a submarine to go that fast underwater is indeed impressive - technology-wise.
However - and this a HUGE however - when travelling at such speeds underwater with virtually no ability whatsoever to hear (i.e. "see") anything around you, it's like speeding through dense fog on the freeway.
And another issue with such speed can be mechanical failure - e.g. of fairwater, bow, or stern planes. If you're going to go that fast, you have to be able to recover from a jammed plane without exceeding your design depth. The faster you go, the shallower you must be or...
