(Newsweek) JB Pritzker Looking at Prosecuting ICE Agents in Chicago

Federal agents have no special immunity to law, any more than state or local enforcement has.

We have qualified immunity, but that is strictly for lawsuits.

Mostly police officers aren't usually charged because of prosecutorial discretion.

The guy who shot a priest in the face with a pepper ball doesn't deserve such deference.

This is just an assault.

Trump will just pardon them and they know it given what he did with the Jan 6th rioters. Basically you have thousands of LE with virtually free rein to do as they wish. Think about that for a minute!
Traitor Trump can’t pardon anyone convicted on state charges.

This makes me think he's running for President. Surely he's aware of Qualified Immunity.

Obstructing justice is still a crime isn't it? Anyone at ICE who refuses to identify ICE agents to law enforcement should be charged with it.

He needs to shut the hell up. He's ridiculous.

American citizens are not being deported. If you think otherwise, you really need to take a step back and take a deep breath.

I have no doubt though that ICE has detained American citizens. As out resident homicide detective will no doubt agree, sometimes innocent people are arrested. The issue is what happens then.

If ICE keeps holding people after they have established they are American citizens (assuming no other issue) then that is a legit issue to be addressed.

Actually, they are.

Turn the Faux off.

DO NOT defend the ICE gestapo. It looks bad.

ICE needs to be told to stay the **** away from American citizens. They also need to be banned from hospitals, churches, schools, and court houses.

A U.S. Citizen Detained by ICE for Three Days Tells His Story

George Retes is a 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran who served a tour in Iraq. On July 10, while on his way to work as a security guard at a Southern California cannabis farm, he was detained by federal immigration agents, despite telling them that he is an American citizen and that his wallet and identification were in his nearby car, Retes told me. While arresting him, the agents knelt on his back and his neck, he said, making it difficult for him to breathe. Held in a jail cell for three days and nights, he was not allowed to make a phone call, see an attorney, appear before a judge, or take a shower to wash off pepper spray and tear gas that the agents had used, according to the Institute for Justice, a

It's not going to stop until the ICE gestapo is disbanded all of the racist goon coward nazi scumbags working there are sitting in a cell.

“Just following orders” is literally an infamous Nazi defense. And it didn’t fly the first time, so why in the **** should it apply now?

People actually don’t like having paramilitary thugs injure, threaten, and terrorize their civilians.

These are acts of war against a state.

Correct. That is why support for sending mass deportation is still above 50%, but support for "how Trump is handling immigration" is below 50%.

These are acts of war against a state.

Incorrect. These are in no way actions of war against the State

Oh right, when another state deploys its military in your territory and you don’t want them to, what do you call it?

Appeal to popularity.

.... no, it was an agreement in response to your point that

People actually don’t like having paramilitary thugs injure, threaten, and terrorize their civilians.

no more an "argumentum ad populum" than your own statement.

The Federal Government.

My statement was about the governor.

Still, it’s despicable how all the folks who support these militant radical terrorist actions from ICE and Trump’s attempt to deploy the military are people who don’t live anywhere near the affected areas.

Reminds me of how in Germany, the AfD supporters who hate the Muslim immigrants live mainly in East Germany where there are very few Muslim immigrants.

The Federal Government.
A civil war is still a war.

This is just a fat, unamerican slob running his Stalinist mouth. What a blithering disgrace he is.

You are citing a few issues where the choice was to separate families or deport just a parent.
I am sorry, but 'birth tourism' should not be accepted.

As far as the others, make the necessary reforms.
But-- somebody has to enforce immigration laws.
That's a non-negotiable.

MAGA goes on and on about stopping the brown lawbreakers but then they turn around and cheer the ICE lawbreakers and the January 6th lawbreakers.

It's almost like there's a racial component to it.

Sad to see such low regard for one's fellow citizens.

But that's where we're at today.

Trump will just pardon them and they know it given what he did with the Jan 6th rioters. Basically you have thousands of LE with virtually free reign to do as they wish. Think about that for a minute!
As others have said, Trump can't pardon for state crimes. The difficulty is building a case against individuals. The Gov. will have to have state police arrest armed ICE agents, perhaps inviting a confrontation. I have no doubt if ICE agents that assaulted peaceful were prosecuted, they'd be found guilty. I suspect many of them are Proud Boys.

A future Democratic Justice Dept., if there ever is one, can use the RICO statute to prosecute higher-ups, under the legal theory this was an organized effort of intimidation.

The best reform is the abolition of ICE.

It's not going to be the current ICE gestapo. Mask-wearing Nazi thugs should not be in law enforcement.
