The United States recently issued warnings about the violent crimes in some Caribbean nations.

Just curious, but why is this big news?

US tourists get murdered all the time in other countries and it rarely makes any kind of news never mind national news.

I agree.

But I am just curious why it is big news in Germany when such an event in the US wouldn't be big news at all. Like, the family members of a famous former US senator were killed in Gaza while sheltering in a Christian church. Barely any news coverage at all. Most people probably didn't even know it happened. So I was wondering why in Germany such a event is big news.
