Regardless of facts trump and crew still want us to believe his approval ratings are stellar when in fact they are all in the basement and yet this is the kind of crap some republicans in leadership positions tell their base and of course the base eats it up.

Eat up these numbers trump supporters and then tell us how they are all lies to make trump look bad. We'll be waiting.

After California Gov. Gavin Newsom mocked Donald Trump’s sinking public support, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa appeared on Fox Business to defend his party’s president. “The ultimate in false statements,” the California congressman said. “Trump’s low approval rating? It couldn’t be higher!”

This is certainly the line the GOP is expected to toe, as evidenced by House Speaker Mike Johnson declaring on CNBC last month that Trump’s approval rating is “skyrocketing.” The Louisiana Republican added, “CNN had a story, I think a day or two ago, he was at a 90% approval rating. There’s never been a president that high.”

His missive didn’t include any references to any specific surveys, and for good reason: Trump, who has a habit of making up imaginary approval ratings for himself, was peddling nonsense.

I consistently say that 'polls talk and elections walk'. In the 2018 midterm, when people were living through the first term (you remember that, the one where the wanna-be king was surrounded by DC professionals and his policies were way less destructive to all Americans) he lost 35 seats in the House.

I say R's will fare worse in 2026. Republicans will lose 36 seats (measured by partisan advantage, after being sworn to office in 2027) and begin the 120th Congress with a maximum of 184 seats.

His base is very greatly affected not by what they think - they don't think at all - instead, they are affected by what other people think.

It is very important to them to believe they are the majority. They "feel comfortable" going with the majority.

If they thought they were the outsiders, the extremist minority, they would not be as comfortable with that. It's a very big peer pressure kind of a thing.

It's a lot like Christianity. It wouldn't be nearly as attractive/comfortable if it was unpopular.

Christians have their god - so does maga.

Trump. Lies. About. Everything.

Only dumbasses and cultists believe him.
