Netanyahu's approval among Americans plunges to record low—Poll
A majority of Americans view Netanyahu negatively for the first time, according to a new poll.

7.29.25
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's favorability among Americans plunged to a record low in a new poll released Tuesday. The U.S. has been an Israeli ally for decades, but recent polling suggests support for the Middle Eastern county has slipped amid its military action in Gaza. On October 7, 2023, Hamas led an attack against Israel, killing 1,200 and abducting 251 people. Israel has said 58 hostages remain in Gaza, and that only 21 of them are believed to be alive. Israel has since launched an offensive on Gaza, killing more than 60,000 people, according to The Associated Press, citing Gaza's Health Ministry. Critics have sounded the alarm on Israel's military operation, raising concerns about the number of civilians killed or displaced. The latest poll comes amid growing concerns about the potential starvation of civilians in Gaza. The United Nations has said there is "mounting evidence" of starvation, including plummeting food consumption and acute malnutrition. Netanyahu, however, has denied that civilians are starving in Gaza.
A new poll from Gallup showed Netanyahu, who has served as prime minister in three non-consecutive terms beginning in 1996, with his lowest favorability among Americans since the pollster began tracking his favorability in 1997—nearly 30 years. 52% of respondents said they view Netanyahu unfavorably, compared to only 29% who view him favorably; 19% said they had no opinion of him. Russell Lucas, a professor of international relations at Michigan State University's James Madison College and College of Arts and Letters, told Newsweek the poll findings are unsurprising. "The images of death, destruction, and starvation from Gaza speak for themselves," he said. "Anyone seeing them is sure to be horrified. The American public historically associates actions of countries with their leaders. In this case Americans' growing rejection of Israel's perceived genocide in Gaza directly transfers to their evaluation of Netanyahu." Other surveys have similarly found declining support for Israel among Americans.
Benjamin Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court at the Hague for various War Crimes... the starvation of Gazans being among those crimes. The starvation of an occupied people is outlawed under the Geneva Conventions.
The images from Gaza sicken me. From the emaciated and skeletal bodies of children to swarms of people, both young and old, crying and begging for a ladle-handout of soup in their pitiful tin bowls.
