Netanyahu wants to name Golan Heights community after Trump
​

Israel said on Tuesday it would name a new community on the Golan Heights after U.S. President Donald Trump as an expression of gratitude for his recognition of its claim of sovereignty over the strategic plateau.

Israel captured the Golan from Syria in a 1967 war and annexed it, in a move not recognized internationally. The United States broke with other world powers last month when Trump signed a decree recognizing Israeli sovereignty there.

"All Israelis were deeply moved when President Trump made his historic decision," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement made on the Golan.

He added that, after the Jewish Passover festival, he would "bring to the government a resolution calling for a new community on the Golan Heights named after President Donald J. Trump."

COMMENT:-

This seems to me to be an incredibly brilliant move. As long as Mr. Trump is the President of the United States of America absolutely no one will even think about attacking "Trumptown" for fear of attracting massive retaliation from the United States of America and it is only the fear of massive retaliation from the United States of America that has totally stamped out terrorism in the world today.

Right?

PS - The rumour that the Israeli government is about to declare the Gaza Strip to be "The International Donald Trump Peace Memorial and Golf Course" is **T*O*T*A*L*L*Y** false.

I think your response indicates some serious lack of brainpower on your part. Or dishonesty. It’s not a personal question to ask what geographic region of the world you live in.

Since you need this spelled out for you, there is nothing deplorable about a community being named for trump since all land on the earth is conquered land and naming cities after conquerors or their allies is common
 
In decades to come, Israelis will ask why the area was named after the only U.S. president to be removed from office and then convicted of crimes. To Israelis, it will be their confederate monument moment.
 
Folks will be able to stand atop Trump Heights and watch Iran and Russia dominate Syria.
 
There is a segment of people here criticizing this move who would praise a Hillaryville. Just as there is a segment of people praising this that would loose their minds if the area was called Obamaburg.


Presidents have been having areas named in their honor for a long time, no big deal

It's no big deal if the people directly affected by it do not consider it a big deal.

On the other hand, it IS a big deal if the people directly affected by it DO consider it a big deal - regardless of what the people who are NOT directly affected by it think.
