You know that expression, Everyone and their brother? True. Black women told me of their brothers getting stopped for no reason. A black guy I worked with detailed his stop the night before--handcuffed and car searched with no explanation why. Black guy in BMW stopped in Beverly Hills for no reason. On and on.
That black men are WRONGLY targeted by LA cops for traffic stops.
Again, how do you know that there was no reason?
I told you that the black guy I worked with was not given a reason. The many stories fit a pattern.

Just because he wasn't given a reason doesn't mean that there was no reason.
Look, I had a client who grew up in Detroit in the 50's and 60's. He told me how the cops would bust black men for minor stuff because if they had any kind of record they couldn't get senior positions in the unions. I have no reason to doubt him. I'm also aware that over the years the LAPD, NYPD and NOPD have all had major corruption scandals. Some times there is corruption but if there is it needs to be proved, not speculated about on social media.
The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & MultimediaBias Is Found in Police Use of Force but Not in Shootings

Contradicting conventional wisdom, a study found no racial bias when it comes to the most lethal form of force.

Being touched/handcuffed/pushed to the ground/pepper sprayed does not carry permanent harm, so I would been to be convinced that I should care. I know that black men are more often than anyone else to be bad guys, so they should on average get more rough treatment. If they want better treatment they should act better, as a group. THey should also be considerate to cops, follow directions, and not run away when cops are trying to check them out or talk to them.
Why is this such a hard thing. Federal government draws up nation standards, makes it voluntary to comply, at least initially.
People are resisting such an effort because they have grown wise to the Federal Governments "slippery slope" actions in the past.
A Federalized Police force is a very bad thing. It should be left up to the states.
Make no mistake, Obama, and his party of massive government ideologues are desperate to Federalize the Police, and are anxious to use current events to move that ball forward - "never let a crisis go to waste".
It could be argued that is why the Obama Administration and it's cohorts, have been working so hard to sow seeds of division across the country. There is control, and ultimately power, in a Federal Solution.
It seems to be a conservative belief that federal government is untrustworthy, and local or state governments are trustworthy. Never understood that.
Well, perhaps you should do something about that lapse in knowledge and understanding.
State and Local governments are the closest to the people who are actually impacted by laws and regulations. Their vote has a more direct impact on the elected officials who will be writing and passing those laws. A vote in a town, buy it's citizens, could remove someone from office.
On the Federal level, the vote of someone in another state could determine what local laws a citizen must live under.
Trying to keep the overreach of the Federal Government under control is a difficult task, especially in this day and age.
In my state, the Secretary of State is currently in jail for gambling at casinos with public money. Government is government, local or federal.
True. But which level of it do you have more impact?
You might want to read up on the 10th Amendment to see what the Founding Fathers thought of States Rights.
None at all.
Yikes. That sounded quite racist.
