National Review’s publication of the collective anti-Donald Trump missives from 22 self-appointed conservative potentates has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.

So clueless is the Gang of 22 they can’t even see how they’ve stumbled right into the narrative Trump’s been communicating so successfully for months. Just like the elected officials from both parties, the Gang of 22 has been GREAT at complaining about stuff, year, after year, after year.

But getting anything accomplished? Not so much.

The Gang of 22 had their chance. They’ve done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some.

But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose.

The Gang of 22 is right to be terrified. A President who could get things done would expose them as the irrelevant creatures they truly are.

It can’t happen fast enough.

So true... So true.

The Republicans were given all the tools necessary to stop Obama... and they pissed in the face of their base. And by their words and actions during the past months... they're still in full urination mode.

Now they're learning... the hard way... that their political lives and system of business as usual is in jeopardy... and we're loving it.

National Review sucked badly for years after Buckley died, but it's making a decent comeback finally.

The MSM is going spastic over their inability to demonize Trump; they make huge piles of money off of elections, and both Parties' establishments depend on it to convince the public of their 'legitimacy'. They've shot themselves in the foot and lost most of their credibility the last decade or so, and now we're seeing a repeat of the Nader/Buchanan protest vote, only magnified 20 fold in the Bernie and Trump candidacies. They just don't get it's not about policies and 'talking points' any more for a huge chunk of the electorate, it's about giving the finger to the MSM and the Party hacks who have been defrauding the country for decades now. Nobody actually much cares what Bernie's or Trump's policies are at this point, it's about sending a message.

The National Review all on their own accord because of the mentioned article handing the entire election to Trump is a bit much, we have way too much to see in a general election context between Trump and Hillary or Sanders. I am still not convinced that Trump's rhetoric and ideas to date will translate well from the primary race to the general election, Independents and moderates will be at stake.

That said, what the National Review is doing is not all that far removed from how most of this same group defeated the 2012 Growth and Opportunity Project. The one time Republicans put together something designed to bridge that gap between themselves and various voting groups... then the likes of Glenn Beck went on a commentary rampage and ultimately derailed all of that thinking before the ink really dried.

Many on that list of 22 have have a business model that is centered on the idea of taking a decreasing demographic and make them increasingly angry and/or scared of all opposition (including moderates and Independents.) Some call themselves Libertarians, but I question that. It makes sense for every single one of them to run off to any opportunity to bash on anyone they deem is not a "conservative." Most of the 22 on that list mentioned Reagan in some respect in the article in question, as if even he was electable in today's political climate. Argumentative at best, but it illustrates well how quickly we have moved past a dying ideology driven by a business model that does better when opposition is in control and their audience is terrified because of it.

The mythical base who protested by not voting... ever... in any election. You should post that in the CT forum.

I doubt the National Review has the influence to make a meaningful effect on an election but I'll bet this issue will draw some new subscribers. Great marketing.

Some people just want to see the world burn. They would be Trump supporters.

The problem is that the Republican base is stupid. They elected Republicans and expected them to be able to reverse all of Obama's policies. Then when it didn't happen they got mad. Idiots. They forgot, if they ever knew, that the Congress can't do much without the President being on board. And this President would not cooperate or compromise on anything.

So now these morons are set to destroy the GOP. I'm sure it's a lot of fun watching the apple cart being turned over. But then where are they going to go for apples?

Except Trump is a very bad man to give the Presidency too based on emotional response. That's how we ended up WITH Obama.

True. But the price we are going to pay to see them sad is extremely high.

Ever seen the Globe Trotters Basketball exhibition team do their act?

You know that team that they play against, sometimes called the Washington Generals... that team of shills who are present solely for the purpose of acting as the straightman, for the Globetrotters antics to make fun fools of them...

Well, that's what the Establishment Republicans have become. That is what John Boehner and Paul Ryan are, they are not true conservatives, they are Democratic Party Shill place holders, who see their job as place holders until Democrats can get back into office again.

They rubber stamp the Leftie agenda and prevent any change of the pendulum back toward the center and sanity.

Well, the American People, who DO NOT WANT the Left's Agenda, have figured them out!

Hence, Trump and Cruz are the top candidates, because they are NOT Establishment RINOs.

I say, Good Riddance to RINO Trash!

Now, let's get busy, Dump the Left and all their works, and save America!

Obama is a know-nothing socialist who never spent any meaningful time in a real job, never ran a business, isn't someone who has negotiated much of anything, and has been mentored by a race baiter. His skill set... race baiting agitator.

Obama claimed his experience managing was... his first campaign!!! ROTFLOL.

His dimwitted schemes have cause misery here and abroad.

Trump knows business, has negotiated deals, has run a fairly large enterprise. He actually loves the country. He isn't beholden to anyone, does what everyone claims they want from a politician... speaks his mind in language everyone can understand.

People want a few simple things done:

1. Border security.

2. Stop illegal immigration... drops instead of tsunami's.

3. Reverse King Obama's executive orders.

4. Fix the crap, corrupt government we have.

5. Rebuild the military and our foreign policy.

6. Create an environment that creates meaningful jobs.

7. ObamaKare... trash it.
