Nashville Shooter Audrey Hale's Christian Parents 'Couldn't Accept' She Was Transgender, Source Claims

He/She should have gotten a job, saved money and moved out of the parents home.

That would have helped him/her a lot. Not having to live in such oppression would have removed a lot of the mental stress and depression.

Unfortunately the shooter decided to kill people instead.

Treating trans people so badly causes mental problems. It's not being accepted as they are by society that causes most of the mental problems trans people have.

It is no excuse for becoming a barbarian and killing people.

It is a good reason to not treat LGBT people so badly.

 

Treating people badly is always a bad thing to do.

But serious mental illness is not caused by treating people badly. It can cause some neuroses, bit it won't cause psychosis or delusional behavior.
 
Here's THE question; If this person is so upset with her parents, why didn't she confront THEM instead of totally innocent people?

Very likely they did, but they were shut down by these stifling parents.

A sad truth: If they had just killed their parents and then themselves, this story wouldn't have gone much farther than the local news. Murder-suicides are way too common.
 
In my limited experience, the parents have a huge impact on their transgender children's mental health.

Treating people badly can absolutely result in serious mental illness. Where did you get your psychology PhD?

I agree. However, don't most people go after their perceived enemies first before unleashing their wrath on unsuspecting innocent people?

I've got some unhappy personal experience with psychotic disease, and I've read a lot about it as a result.

Psychosis is not caused by environmental factors, though it can be exacerbated by a number of things. Its origin is organic, in brain chemistry.

I've been seeing more than I want to see of instances of murder-suicide. Dad shoots wife (or estranged wife) and then goes on to kill their innocent children. It's disturbing.

But you are right. If Hale had just killed her parents and herself, it wouldn't have been a tinderbox of a story, like this one is. And 3 children and 3 innocent adults would still be alive today.
 
The person we're talking about was 28 years old.

Obviously she was mentally ill and no one here is in a position to do anything but speculate about the role her parents had in how that mental illness was dealt with within the family or even if it was dealt with at all. IMO it's a goddamn shame that what drives this story more than anything else is the simple desire to pin it on "the other side".
 
My wife knows a few gay men who came out to their parents and have not spoken to their parents since then. Their parents consider them dead.
I don't understand that mentality.
 

All the times I've been suicidal, I've always just wanted to kill myself and that's it. Nobody else gets hurt.

I don't understand these scumbags who try to take innocent people with them.

Might want to check the history of mass shootings in the U.S. and see how many were committed by transgenders or how many were committed by white straight males. Mind you, I realize it is FAR easier for someone like yourself to drop those little nuggets called tropes rather than actually look something up.

It is certainly a symptom of the most serious diseases (schizophrenia always, and bipolar disorder often).

For someone to be crazy enough to go shoot innocent people, they will usually be psychotic and delusional, detached from reality.

OFGS.......trans people, like all other persons can be subject to mental illness. Being trans is not in and of itself mental illness any more than homosexuality , bisexuality or hetrosexuality is.

One COULD argue that being a bitter person who can't abide anyone "different" than themselves is a sure sign of mental illness.

I think maybe you are missing the point.

I dont believe all trans people are mentally ill. However, when you start excusing and justifying behaviors based on their circumstance (and to their credit, many libs and leftists are NOT excusing or justifying this persons behavior) you are doing just that...blame the parents. Blame the schools. Blame hurt feelings. Well hell...thats EVERYONE.

No...this was a 28 year old adult...fully functioning college graduate. This wasnt moms fault and for damn sure the 8-9 year old children she killed werent at fault.

I imagine that we will find that the school and the schools leaders from 20 years ago was an enemy.

This happened to my nephew, his parents disowned him when he came out. He did reconcile with his mother after his father's death, but it was a long process.
 
Nonetheless, left or right, it is not right to equate transexuality with mental illness. They are not synonymous. Any bad treatment she may have experienced based on her sexuality may have contributed to her acting out violently against innocents but it is in NO way an excuse for it and anyone on the left using it as an excuse is every bit as wrong as the right using it as the reason for her violence.
 
I'm watching live coverage of an interview of Nashville's Police Chief. These parents claim they had NO idea she owned a gun. That's bullshit, I'm sorry. Every parent I know has super-radar when you know you're kid is up to no good! So, she's 28, living at home, being treated for mental health issues, yet somehow she's able to conceal not 1, but 7 firearms??? This scrteams CYA mom and dad....
 
If she is a victim of her parents, why didnt she kill them? What does killing 9 year olds solve?
