Mystery of ancient Canaanites is finally solved, genetic research shows

The bible, once again, is being misrepresented. if you actually READ the bible, the canaanites were wiped out from the land of canaan, which according to the bible, never included Lebanon(or rather, not beyond Sidon). King David, who fulfilled the promise of Israel's borders, allied with King Hiram of Tyre, and they never warred and whos supplies was used to build the Temple of Solomon. Lebanon was never wiped out by the Israelites, and I find it ludicrous that scientists would be so ignorant about this topic.

I don't. Being a geneticist requires enough study without throwing in a mastery of Abrahamic theology on top of that.

But that's the problem. If they don't know theology, they shouldn't be making claims like this. Genetics is one thing, and albiet very interesting, but saying the bible is false as a result is outside their field, especially when we know what happened to the canaanite tribes, and only some were wiped out, but the rest were eventually mixed over time under Nebuchadnezzar and the babylonian empire when they absorbed the ancient jewish kingdom, and archeaology proves this and this genetics study further confirms it.

Yep.

That said, it doesn't take much reading to realize the Bible doesn't say anywhere that literally all the Canaanites were wiped out. Even the verse in Deuteronomy only claims that the ones in certain cities were wiped out.

It doesn't take much reading to realize the bible is a complete work of fiction.

Odd thing to assert, given that the bibles I'm looking at right now say both "Completely destroy them" and "But thou shalt utterly destroy them".;

Oh, they were commanded to, but read up on King Saul's, David's, and solomon's alliances with the various kings and canaanite tribes. Even in Jesus's time, Moab was still inhabiting the land of Canaan. They were commanded, and succeeded to a large extent, but the remaining tribes eventually just melded in to the larger persian populations. They were displaced from the land, but it didn't stop them from inhabiting nearby Lebanon, Midian or Hittite lands to the north.

Funny thing that.

The bible is chock full of facts an stuff.

Right up until those "facts" are shown to be not so factual, then and only then is it OBVIOUSLY a book that's not to be taken literally.

Horse manure. It just shows it went in one eyeball and out the other.

For instance, document one false event in, say, the Gospel of Luke and cite the scripture(s) involved and also cite your evidence why the event is false.

I want just 1 (ONE) example, and not some link. YOU make the case so we have a clue you know what you're talking about.

Yawn. Already was done when you asked the same asinine question in another thread. And you turned tail and ran.

As always.

Those statements are obviously symbolic and not to be taken literally like they actually mean what they say....

Interested in understanding the OT?

Rule 1: Never go to agnostics, atheists, or antiGodists for an answer.

Rule 2: Realize that is not literal.

Hmmmm...seems obviously false to me. What reading do you have in mind?

I think in this case the statements can be read literally, but they do not indicate the complete destruction of all Canaanites. Only those in certain cities. The issue at question is that the Bible is alleged to have said that all Canaanites were actually killed. But it doesn't say that.

Never got a good answer from you Bible novices, so why stick around?

Sad that you harbor such pathological fear of the truth.

You don't know the bible. It's sad to pretend otherwise.

It's what you scream every time you post, 'Flush'.

He screams flush when people start using logic and knowledge against him, which means he does it often

Here's the thing, tho'.

I don't want people to be stupid. I have no desire (and from what I gather, neither do you) for people to remain affixed in their idiocy.

This is a task better suited to teachers, but some never have good ones.

That's why there's a circus ;-)

Some people would rather pretend they make sense then deal with reality
