These are only my thoughts and, as always, open for constructive conversation.

Democrats need a charismatic leader. Say what you will about the Repubs, but they are in lockstep with dear leader Trump. We'll see how the Epstein situation plays out, but I think in the long run the hoopla will die down. There is no clear leader in the Democratic party, so they can't come up with a clear message. They are rudderless and need to get their shit together. Don't ask me who that leader should be. They have time so it could be someone we haven't even thought of.

Democrats should ride the tide of the Epstein debacle, but when it subsides they need to have a long-term plan. I know Democrats are not currently in power, but I've yet to hear a peep about what they stand for. I'm aware that MAGAs don't stand for anything except cruelty and "owning the Libs" but that doesn't seem to matter in the scheme of things.

Democrats should focus on kitchen-table rather than fringe issues. As a member of the LGBT community, I don't need Democrats' focus in an election. I want to keep my current equality and my status as legally married and if Dems focus on smaller populations like LBGT and Trans it will continue to put them behind and my own rights will erode. All I need is for Democrats to win on larger issues and reverse any anti-LGBT laws that may have been put in place by MAGA. In my view, no Democrats needs to fall on the sword for me and they don't need to shove Pride down anyone's throat.

Democrats should once again prove that they are for the common man. They really lost the plot during the last election, where they gave up votes to many audiences, including Blacks and Latinos. Mamdani is ahead because he had a concrete plan for everyday citizens of NYC, and even if can't implement them he is no worse than Trump with his empty promises. At least Mamdani has new ideas.

There is a dire need for younger leaders in the Democratic party. Spineless people like Schumer need to go. IMO we need more Jasmine Crocketts who will call it as they see it, along with Wes Moores and Josh Shapiros. The young leaders can reach younger audiences through technology and Social Media and encourage them to get out and vote. That's what the Repubs did with the podcasters. The oldsters don't have a clue.

Sorry for the long-winded opinion, but I don't want to see Democrats win the 2026 mid-terms just because America has FAFO'd. I want to see them become a strong party again, with the ability to win Presidential elections. Again, open for constructive conversation and recommendations. Snarky MAGA comments won't be responded to.

You know nothing...and THAT...is why the Democrats are no longer relevant.

There IS no mystery. The Democratic Party is generally associated with more progressive policies. It supports social and economic equality, favoring greater government intervention in the economy but opposing government involvement in the private noneconomic affairs of citizens. Democrats advocate for the civil rights of minorities, and they support a safety net for individuals, backing various social welfare programs, including Medicaid and food aid. To fund these programs and other initiatives, Democrats often endorse a progressive tax. In addition, Democrats support environmental protection programs, gun control, less-strict immigration laws, and worker rights.

Oh, and yes, Trump is a total disaster as president which SHOULD be enough, but.....

That is precisely my point. I know what the Democratic party has been associated with but I've yet to hear any Democrat get that across on any interview segment that I've seen. There is too much there to effectively communicate and it needs to be consolidated into a few talking points.

The democrats are not reading the room and need to face some tough facts. They are not going to win another election in this country until they learn to be more bigoted and anti-science. That’s just where the nation’s electorate is these days.

Yeah------Dems have to remember how dumb voters are. The GOP remembers, and uses that knowledge to get votes. Most of my friends are Trumpers, and they are great people, but they are dumb as a rock...

When the Far Left gets everything their way they create dystopia and suffering.
This is why people are moving out of the Democrat cities and states.

How do explain solidly Red states like Louisiana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming and Oklahoma losing population? Oh right, it's dystopia and suffering.

MAGA wasn't successful because it was cruel and owned libtards, it was initially successful because it presented a progressive, believable message for the nation:
  1. America was great
  2. It no longer is
  3. Under me (Trump), it can become great again
This - in addition to the general annoyance and hostiltiy toward our sclerotic bureaucracy which gets nothing done - was a revolutionary message. It generated an enormous amount of political capital which conservatives have (unfortunately) decided to squander on sadism and cheaply owning libtards.

The truth is that progressive politics has just ran out of runway. The "progressive revolution" of feminism, gay rights, racial grievance, and so on was more-or-less completely successful. Even a supposed radical like Trump is vaguely neutral on issues like abortion, gay rights, etc. There are transsexual influencers that have a big following in conservative politics. Trump explicitly mentions initiatives for black and Hispanic success while on campaign. Yes, yes, it may all be performative and no serious change comes from it, but politics is presentation and framing, not results oriented.

The left needs something sexy and exciting. They need aesthetics, they need to appeal to some kind of American mythology of labor, the frontier, exploration, innovation, engineering, and so on. The only thing more negative and repulsive than Trump is the ritualistic flagellation about all of the "problematic" elements in our civilization. In many ways, the contemporary progressive left has become regressive - always critical, never forward-looking.

Small population states don't offer enough employment opportunities.
When people finish school, they move away to start their career.

I suppose "believable" fits for people who are totally unequipped for modern society.

Easy to say in retrospect, but people forget in 2016 this was after 15+ years of war in the Middle East, post-recession, sluggish Economic growth, and 2 cycles with Romney and McCain who were both charisma vacuums.

Doesn't change the fact that he is and always has been a carnival barker.

Of course he attracted the rubes. That's what carnival barkers do.

And ideological vacuums as well. You would be hard pressed to name a policy or policies that defined either man.

Oh of course. It turned out to be a total catastrophe. He had the political capital to become Caesar (seriously, he's still riding on what he created in 2016) but chose Walmart toy section racism and favela populism.

There hasn't been an ideological president since maybe Reagan. In Reagan's case it ended up being absolutely ****ing horrible but at least we can say there were people who read books in his admin, even if they were bad, shitty books and even in Regan's case he was just a liberal capitalist - much like the liberal capitalist that succeeded and proceeded him and so on and so on.

That's actually something I've been thinking a lot about. The end of the cold war meant total ideological and philosophical death. Fukuyama's 'End of History' remains relevant.

Epstein, Epstein, Epstein. Democrats didn't give a rats ass about Epstein for two decades. They do't give a shit now, they only care about trying to smear Trump. Hell Trump bounced Epstein out of Mar a lago 20 years ago. You got nothing but these ridiculouas accusations. Trump Russian worked. Except everyone knows it was a complete lie.

Democrats claiming intellectual superiority is always hilarious.

I mean, this has literally been measured. High IQ people tend to be more left leaning.

Now I'll be the first to say that a midwit is more dangerous than a retard, but if the subject is "who has a claim to intellectualism" it is objectively the liberals lol.
