CNN: Muslims protest '24'
Unfortunately, many in our society already unfairly judge all Muslims for actions of the minority of extremists. That being said, I don't think you can blame a TV show for portraying Muslim extremists as the "bad guys". First of all, it is a fictional show. Secondly, it doesn't advocate the idea that all Muslims are terrorists. You can't blame a show for how people react to it. Regardless, I don't think the show '24' will have much of an effect on how our society already judges Muslims.

"Blasts in Baghdad kill 14 as violence rises
At least 5 car bombs detonate, including 3 in a single vegetable market"
I judge them by the actions of the so called "few" and the LACK of a response by all the peace living Muslims out there...roll: )..., other then to say "Its only a few bad ones"

As for the TV program "24" do they know its make believe?...
To see the real deal all you need to do is turn on the TV.
Its all too easy..They allow these people to speak for Muslims or they find their own voice.
Still, do you think that justifies judging them all by such a shallow stereotype because you haven't heard anything from the normal Muslims? Even if some of them did speak out, it wouldn't make a difference for some people. People need a scapegoat and Muslims are a convenient one. I liken this situation to our treatment of Japanese people during WWII.
Would it be fair to judge all Christians on the atrocities that extremist Christians in the past have committed?
I can understand where they are coming from and why they feel threatened. However, I think their fear is misguided by worrying that a tv show is going to create something that is already problem. It is simply a tv show and I highly doubt that the writers of the show were rubbing their hands together while hoping for the downfall of Muslims everywhere.
Here's an example of Muslims speaking out:
5 Years on, US Muslims Decry Prejudice
What degree of speaking out will be good enough for people so they quit judging the actions of the extremist minority on the entire group?
Gee-wiz is this still going on today?Would it be fair to judge all Christians on the atrocities that extremist Christians in the past have committed?
Gee-wiz is this still going on today?
I think not...........
From the same damn site....
IslamOnline.net- Muslim Affairs
Thanks but No thanks I will continue to judge them all.
So what? Those things still happened. The only reason they aren't still happening is because Christians live in far more civilized surroundings now. The point is that any religion with a "my way or the highway" ideology is potentially dangerous. That still doesn't justify juding the majority for the actions of the minority.
How exactly does that justify your condemnation of all Muslims? All it proves is that they are a lot of Muslim extremists out there. That still doesn't justify judging them all by such shallow criteria.
These protestors need to grow up FFS! It's a show, its not real....
How about these people protest about the daily sectarian killings in Iraq, or about the human rights abuses commited in Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Jordan..... All in the name of Islam........
Naw they would rather just go ape-chit over a cartoon.......
I dont understand that though some people make fun of jews on a constant basis in some Muslim countries...they portray jews as vampires and killers or slobs and child eaters...but they get mad when someone takes a shot at them with a friggin cartoon? **** off. LoL. How about you just make a few cartoons making fun of Jews? dont go burning George Bush dolls and U.S. flags...just make some funnier cartoons about Kosher food or Nordic women stereotypes. jeez people today. Did anybody see the pictures of crazy people running around Islamabad blaming the U.S. for those Danish cartoons? How the hell do you blame the U.S. for cartoonists in Europe? Pretty lite strawman I'm willing to bet.
This is ridiculous. What I find so interesting is that Islam is one of the fastest if not the fastest growing religion in the world today, even in the US. So with all this bad publicity and crazy shite going on in the world people are still flocking to Islam which really makes you go huh? I mean how can Islam be growing in the US today????
If you were already a peace loving Muslim and this current crap has nothing to do with you and feel bad that your religion has been "hijacked" so to speak I can have some sympathy.
But to live in the world we do today and be a citizen of the US and decide at this moment, "I'm gonna become a Muslim!" That's just something that greatly concerns me and I can't wrap my head around it. Why is the religion growing? Maybe over seas where it's cool to be anti-west but right here in the US? Who the hell are these people they are converting? It doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense to me.
