He looks a little bit like the Amitābha Buddha, but maybe even more like the Budai. But he can't be the Budai, because he is not funny and he is never laughing.

And, pssst , Elon, only elite, educated liberals know anything about Buddhism. In fact, to most real Americans — you know white, evangelical Christians — Buddhism is a false, errant religion (on par either with that other false, errant religion: Catholicism, that Popish cult of Rome).

Aside: Vance’s Catholicism will keep him from being elected POTUS. There’s a conversion to one Protestant religion or the other in his future. But, I digress.

The correct reference was to Jesus Christ, not the Buddha. Did Christianity die out after Christ left the earthly realm? THAT is a comparison the MAGA base can understand.

Your problem in making it, though Elon, is TRUMP is Christ to the MAGA hive mind.

But to answer Elon's question: Yes, The Buddha is needed for Buddhism, he taught the Middle Way, without him and other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas reaching Nirvana would not be feasible.
