More scary crap

I wouldn't worry about it. This guy has a pretty solid reputation, and he worked for Obama in the past.

Everyone is either too far left or too far right depending on YOUR own political bias.

Yeah, no thanks.

Democracy is dying fast. CBS turns MAGA

Yep, I stopped watching legacy "news" (CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC) a while ago. In MAGA's 'Merikuh, freedom of the press dies with each new merger.

So where do you get your news?

That's actually a good question, and I appreciate it.

I read across a variety of sources. Either directly or indirectly (articles suggested on X, for instance), I read Financial Times, AP, Bloomberg, Reuters, AFP, and other independent media that are smaller but dedicated to investigative journalism (ProPublica, for instance).

In terms of what I watch, I rarely watch mainstream US-based media at all, though sometimes I don't have a lot of choice. I will watch mainstream outlets if I want to have a basic sense of what happened, but I rarely rely on them for the why it happened, if that makes sense. For global affairs, I watch international media such as Deutsch Welle (very good extended news clips and documentaries, IMO). I sometimes watch France24, BBC, CBC, etc.

I tend to favor podcast interviews with guests I find credible for a deeper understanding of specific topics, which isn't always easy to find. Sometimes, I don't realize until I've watched a few interviews that someone has an angle. It doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything, but it means one always has to be vigilant and keep that little asterisk handy.

@multivita-man I think you're missing out not to catch Rachel Maddow's show. Another good source for information but not so much news, is Heather Cox Richardson, who sends a daily note.

I do read and watch Richardson from time to time. Maddow's fine, just not my thing.
